Just floored. My mom found a cassette tape with recordings from my Grandma Lina, Grandpa Ramiro, Great Aunt Felicia aka “Chacho,” Great Uncle Tomás, my mother Linamelia and my Uncle Ramiro Jr. Uncle Ramiro (we called him Rami) interviewed family about their life growing up in Cuba. It’s a full hour of these voices that have long passed away, including my uncle. Here’s a portion of mostly my Grandma and Great Aunt singing songs they learned growing up in Minas de Matahambre and after they came to EEUU. I can’t express how much I didn’t realize how much I missed all these folks until I heard their voices again. So much love. Thanks @jeremy.adams.pdx for making this into a shareable format and emailing it to me. So so amazing. ❤️😭 by @chefaaroncasanas

It’s NATIONAL BIKE MONTH as you may or may not know, but for Chef Aaron (that’s me) it’s bike month every minute of every day of the year.

Ok, back to first person…a little jaunt from my home in Gateway to Provvista (Chef’s Warehouse now I GUESS!) for chocolate and hazelnut oil, to 11th Ave Liquor for cognac, and Cash & Carry (what’s it actually called now?). 25 mile trip to deliver some stuff for service tonight.

We also got our work bike out of the shed and ready for farmers market hauls so we can be as cool as @sarahminnick_ who if you don’t know grabs all her produce from the market every week on her @larryvsharry Bullitt!

I love bicycles, ever since I got my first bike as a little boy. It’s always been an amazing sense of empowerment and freedom to go a long distance on your own power.

All City Space Horse disc, built back up with a front rack to hang a bunch of out-of-production @swiftindustries bags. Stoked to put this baby back together, saving it from being tied to a @wahoofitnessofficial trainer after getting a @gozwift trainer for all my indoor suffering needs. Built to do some commuting and possibly a light tour here and there. by @chefaaroncasanas

GODDAMN GRAVEL RIDING IS HARD. ALL THIS EFFORT TO AVOID CARS, JESUS. I kid, I kid…in reality it’s absolutely worth the effort because HOLY SHIT it’s beautiful out here.

Thanks for the fun day Chef Rick! @rickgenc Rolling around in the dirt was a lot of fun on this lovely Spring day. FAT AND OLD CYCLISTS UNITE! And hey @ritcheylogic thanks for making the Outback…it’s a sick bike a fat guy can ride with CONFIDENCE.
