This past Saturday my five-year-old Amelia, aka Tuti, bagged her first hog right here in our Florida camp-face still buzzing with excitement, like she’s ready for round two tomorrow. Back in South Carolina she shot the six-point-five Creedmoor for real, painted that too-long stock pink with glitter and stickers till it was hers. Built her a custom fit, took her to the range-she shot like she’d done it forever. Rode in on the Polaris, walked three hundred yards, climbed the stand. First pig shows-she freezes. Second pig-same shakes. Third pig? She spots it before me, Papa, give me the gun, shakes hit hard in the stand-that perfect, stomach-flipping nerves us hunters live for, the rush that keeps us hooked. Thumbs up, safety off-bang-one clean lung. Ran fifteen yards and dropped. Thought she missed till she tracked her own blood trail, found it, so damn happy she could burst. My brother called on the Spartan cam: great shot Tuti! Full video below-watch her heart pound through the screen. #DaddyDaughterHunt #SheGotHerFirst #FloridaHog #RaiseThemRight taken in Gods Country by @cheflazmiami
