First deer on my new Florida lease, and what a way to get it done on opening weekend! 🦌🏹

We called him “The Old 7.” An absolute bruiser and my target buck for this year.

On the first day, just when I thought I might get my chance, a massive hog came in and chased him off. I thought I had lost my only opportunity at him, so I took the hog and headed back out the next day hoping for another chance.

Got rained on, fought brutal mosquitoes in the swamp, but put in the work and it all paid off. The Old 7 finally came back out, made a couple of scrapes, got all blown up, and started pushing the other bucks around. Definitely got the blood pumping!

Then, right before the shot, he let out a snort-wheeze at under 15 yards. Talk about an adrenaline rush. I was able to make it happen and get my target buck on the ground.

The bucks were fired up this week with the rut kicking in. Crazy hunt and definitely one I’ll remember for a long time! 💪🏼🏹🦌
