Eastern Market’s Maru San has new hours AND an online waitlist, making it even easier to plan your visit! Chef Simon and Chef Carlos did such an amazing job, everything we tried was delicious, fresh, and beautifully done. Definitely a sushi spot worth checking out! 🍣

Nikkei Handroll Counter in Capitol Hill 🐙🍣

The newly opened @marusandc in @capitolhillbid by Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-winning @chefcarlosdelgg has recieved serval accolades since opening— including best new restaurant from @washingtonianmag and @washingtonpost. I visited recently, and I think that Maru San is worth the hype! 🏆

Maru San serves Peruvian and Japanese inspired sushi handrolls made with crispy nori and premium fish— including cuts that are dry aged in house! They also serve à la carte small plates— like Uzusukuri Rocoto (thinly sliced fish with delicious pepper sauce and biquinho peppers) and Wagyu Tataki Pachikay— and highballs. 🍣🇵🇪🇯🇵

Everything I tried was absolutely delicious, but some of my favorite handrolls of the night were the Smoked Merlin Caviar, Dry Aged Bluefin Toro, and Wagyu Zabuton. ✨

Maru San only accepts walk-ins, but their recently added online waitlist and Friday through Sunday lunch hours make getting a seat at the counter easier than you would think! 📝

I don’t usually post these trendy things but when I looked back at 2016 I was amazed! I met my love @chefsimonlam 10 years ago, went to a bunch of wineries with my friends @karlkuhn and @melissa_lalli I worked @minibarbyjose with @ck.grey @sassysilv @homerplanells @melinoelle @snack_kingg @madein1986alloriginalparts @drunkenmixologist @ftadeo @typicalchanel @dad.tender @foschidc @claudiaponce114 @riccardo_rinaldi @concord_gabe @chefrobertcain and that year we got ⭐️ ⭐️ in the @michelinguide in DC. I traveled to Chicago 3 times with @memoriesofagourmand @lilcheflizzie and Simon of course, we tried @alinearestaurant @nextchicago @bokachicago @avecchicago @sepiachicago and so many other places! I also had my horrible moped 🏍️ accident where I suffered post-concussive disorder, 2 wheels was not for me 🤦🏼‍♀️. Simon and I also went to Vegas to visit his family, and we travelled to San Francisco and Miami too! I feel like this was the first year I really came into my own and invested in myself, my partner, and my career. I hope I’m not the only one who reflects on the young spirit of myself 10 years ago. Proud of who I was and who I have become. by @chefsimonlam
