CORPTECH ARTIST PREVIEW 4/5: CHOREOCODEX v5.1.0 by Chelly Jin (@chellyjin) Working across new media, performance, film, and installation, Chelly Jin presents CHOREOCODEX v5.1.0, a 5-channel immersive video installation investigating the choreographies of labor embedded in computation. Through web socket protocols, video files and webcams are cued in real-time, animating as a procedurally generated film. This work draws on the history of women in computing and software’s ontology, while exploring future imaginaries of data infrastructure as an embodied practice. Room Within a Room: Mid-Residency Exhibition by Chelly Jin Room Within a Room, a multimedia live performance and installation, begins with a simple act: remembering and re-membering. Drawing from childhood photographs, digital landscapes of Google Maps, recomposed floor plans of childhood homes and autobiographical memory indexing, the work explores memory as an archive in flux. Through installation and immersive live performance, the project asks: how or where is memory stored when our tools for remembering — from muscle to machine — begin to degrade? Over a yearlong process of recollection, Room Within a Room unfolds as both an interrogation of the cultural belief in digital permanence and a tender methodology of reminiscence; examining memory recall and the images reconstructed in its wake. OPENING RECEPTION + PERFORMANCE: April 29, 5PM—8:30PM Broad Art Center, [240 Charles E Young Dr N, Los Angeles, CA 90095] Grad Gallery & EDA, Room 1250 Join us for the opening reception at 5:00pm with refreshments and live music.
