Shop + Streets 🚨🍏🐦Time to share some BTS from the tiny sets of our stop motion grad film ‘eyeliner’ as it’s on its festival run. I had the most fun designing & building the world for this beautiful story & it wouldn’t have been possible without so many talented model makers & volunteers. Huuuge love to our director Aisha + cinematographer Mo who made this collaborative process so fun and enjoyable! The model makers who built our many incredible puppets, props and many many hands. Our art volunteers who spent painstaking hours painting, sculpting and laying each individual tile. Our graphic designer Anna who really killed it making soooo many bespoke graphics it was insaaane. It was a lot of work but we had so much fun!! taken in National Film and Television School by @chellyoungstudio

Military Camp Set - interior + exterior

The next set I’m going to share was also from @fallingshort.film built at The Mill Studios. I can't share this build without giving a huge shout out to the wonderful & talented @simyelynn who worked as Art Director on this set, helping to make it come to life. ✨ 🎪

At the end of last year I had the absolute pleasure of designing and building two sets and two miniatures at the Mill Production Park for Falling Short. A beautiful, whimsical, historical comedy about Napoleon written and directed by the talented & wildly creative @owellisz_art.

Helena Coast set - Falling Short 2024
At the end of last year I had the absolute pleasure of designing and building two sets and two miniatures at the Mill Production Park for Falling Short. A beautiful, whimsical, historical comedy about Napoleon written and directed by the talented & wildly creative @owellisz_art.

I’m excited to share some bts and development from the production where both sets had to be built and dressed within 5 days.

The first set I’m sharing was a stylistic take on ‘Helena Coast’, inspired by the sets of Kwaidan, Star Trek, The Mighty Boosh and Old Hollywood techniques. This was the first time any of us used a scenic backdrop as well as trying out 2d layering techniques but I jumped at the chance to try create an exterior set inside a studio.

We had an incredible team of people who made everything possible so thank you so much to everyone who came and helped out on the build and to our core team who really helped design and build this world.

Some of the behind the scenes pictures from our shoot of Esme’s life sucks in 2024.
It was a pleasure working along side such a lovely bunch of talented people & I thoroughly enjoyed sinking my teeth into the Production Design for this film. Not every project requires so many strange skills(?)involving bodily fluids.

Some concepts, technical drawings & 3d models I made as a conceptual set design for a live action film set in 1860s Venice. I’ve felt inspired by Venetian gothic & Byzantine architecture ever since I visited Venice for the first time in art school. Last year I tried to unpick and redraw the architectural forms that made me feel so much in the times I’ve been there. This palazzo is haunted. taken in Venice, Italy by @chellyoungstudio

‘ACE’ 2024
I had the pleasure of worked on the design for ‘ACE’, directed & animated by @fannycapu. The film incorporates stop motion along with 2d drawn sections so I built the set out of layered 2d drawn elements taking initial reference from old school Disney multi-plane paintings. Puppets by the incredible @fannycapu. 🎾

In a world where everyone is as obsessed with playing tennis as they are with having sex, Amy can’t understand what all the fuss is about. Tennis is sweaty, exhausting, and filled with unnecessary grunting. When her date begins hiding his nervousness behind the facade of a seasoned player, Amy starts to question whether they have anything in common at all.
