Legacy- lasting impact of one's life's work passed on to the next generation.

My students made a huge statement with me early this academic year. Music Excellence. Which led us to invitations like this one. A 1st Annual Gala performance for Brilla Schools.
After going to school all day, rehearsing with our pianist for the first time hours before, thank you Davis, and being delayed in our performance time, they showed up. Locked in. Calm and collected.

I am beyond proud. And beyond Focused.

Asha Lindsey (@asha_chinyere), Michelle Trinidad @chellzblue23), and Charles Carter (@charlesdcarter) remind us that your attendance at this year’s An Unsung Symphony is more than just a purchasing of a ticket, but a meaningful investment in our mission and vision.

Programs like our Bridge program allow students in New York City to participate in performances with high caliber musicians and create equitable performance opportunities.

We hope to see you at 7 PM on 2/21 at the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem for an incredible evening of music.

This year’s performance will feature Symphony no. 5 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Carlos Simon’s @carlos_simon_music) “Here I Stand: Paul Robeson”

We are excited to continue our collaboration with the New York Philharmonic (@nyphilharmonic) and students from Brilla Pax Middle school and alum from Sacred Heart School! @divinityseriesmusic

Tickets can be found at www.theunsungcollective.org

November 2025, shortly after my installation as Director of Music and Programming, Highbridge Voices sent me to Rome for an intense immersion of Plain Chant at the Pontificio Instituto di Musica Sacra (PIMS)

I walked in and immediately was fully immersed in an Italian spoken rehearsal-sight reading square notation led by Inga Behrendt.
1 hour later sang in Holy Mass In honor of St Cecilia

----
Introduced to the magnificent Jubilate Deo Programme, Sydney Australia
Ronin Reily
November 27th 2025
----
1 on 1 lectures in the History of Semiology, Chant, Square Notation, Intro to Chant for Children in Italy and Sydney, Australia.
Sang during mass on Vatican Radio for 3 morning masses.
Hours of Discussions and Think Shares with Fr. Mehlhart.
Rehearsals completely in Italian with little English boosts (it was amazing how much I recalled)
Sight reading at its most intense levels both for hymns but also square notation chants.
---
Singing Mass at Lateran Basilica for the Dicastery of Evangelisation
November 28th 2025

Since taking the lead:
Successfully planned and led 3 large concerts+
Created and executed a Pilot Program Highbridge Voices at Brilla Charter Schools

Brought in enriching programs that feed the whole child
Created a community service program for High School student give back
Auditioned over 70 children and accepted 60 of them into our 3 choirs
Began a String Initiative to expand the reach of HBV
Revamped the standard at HBV headquarters
Reassigned my piano studio at HBV headquarters
Represented HBV in Rome at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music
Pushed for visibility on Social Media
Am present, teaching every week in person for the students we serve.
Followed through....and more.

"I manifest, by making it happen." Only in my wildest dreams could I have brought this to life. Years of consistent hard work, pushing my own knowledge further and passionately pursuing without budging on the standard.

Invited by the @songschildrensing and the Carlos Henriquez.

Was it asked to prepare 3 students and myself to record at Jazz Lincoln Center.

Negotiating my students fee, was without a doubt an achievement.

These 3, not in high school yet, from the Bronx, through music education, and their own commitment to excellence did they get here.

To the question: "what have you been doing Michelle?"

I've been opening the door, putting my foot there and holding it open for the next generation of students that look like me.
