Living in Lawrence

What’s it like to call Lawrence home while you’re in graduate school?

Our students highlight some of the things that make Lawrence such a great place to live: a friendly, welcoming community, local coffee shops, live music, plenty of outdoor and recreational opportunities, and a relaxed, dog-friendly atmosphere.

It’s a city that feels safe, calm, and easy to settle into, with Kansas City just a short drive away when you’re looking for a bigger-city experience.

Come see why KU Chemistry students enjoy not only the work they’re doing, but the community they get to be part of.

We are saddened to share the passing of Dr. Donald “Don” Leedy (PhD ’68), a pioneering chemist, devoted Jayhawk, and longtime friend and supporter of KU Chemistry.

Don’s scientific legacy reaches back to the earliest development of spectroelectrochemistry, but his impact on our department extended far beyond his research. Throughout his life and career, he remained deeply connected to KU Chemistry, generously supporting our students, faculty, staff, and the Ralph N. Adams Institute. He was a valued member of our Alumni Advisory Board, an enthusiastic ambassador for the department, and, to those who knew him, a thoughtful colleague and genuinely kind person.

We are grateful for Don’s remarkable life, his enduring commitment to KU, and the many ways his generosity and enthusiasm strengthened our community.

Please join us in remembering Dr. Leedy and learning more about his life and legacy: https://adamsinstitute.ku.edu/donald-don-leedy by @chemistry_ku
