It takes a village" is a well-known saying for a reason. No one who has ever accomplished anything great has done it alone.

The idea for Eutierria began with the concept of stumbling upon the women featured in @biancanemelc's paintings as if you were a voyeur they didn't notice. To bring this to life, we decided to create a wooden dock that would give the effect of a realistic environment, leading the viewer up to the water where the women were bathing.

Once we confirmed that the show was happening, @steveturnerla. Bianca mapped out where she wanted the work to be placed and shared additional notes for the environment. Beyond that, I am honored to say that she trusted me to do the rest, and I cannot express my gratitude for that experience.

This led to a SketchUp model that I created, which was then turned into a stunning rendering by the very talented Adriana Avendano (@bae_driana). I think that for any curators or artists trying to pitch a crazy idea, it's helpful to have a model or rendering to help sell the concept. The ideas in your head can sometimes be hard to describe, so having a visual aid can help clear the confusion and usually help sell what you’re trying to execute. This rendering became the base for everyone involved.

Once the concept was set, I was lucky enough to have my extremely talented and very busy brother from another, Anthony Hart (@anthony.hart), and his partner in crime, AJ (@ajlendocivilianthings), come in and run production. I don't have enough words to express the amount of work that AJ and his team (Justus & Gabe @gabriels.hart) put into this. Normally, you build a floor for something like this with cheap materials because it's temporary. Not these guys! They built a real wooden deck, and it took three guys just to move one of the six parts that created the floor. These things were extremely massive and heavy! I’d like to believe that they’re now living a second life as someone’s front porch somewhere. 😂

“Eutierria” is a term coined by Australian philosopher Glenn A. Albrecht to describe a positive feeling of oneness with the earth and its life forces, where the boundaries between self and nature are obliterated, and a deep sense of peace and connectedness pervades consciousness.

@biancanemelc and myself worked really hard in collaboration with @steveturnerla to convey this feeling to viewers as they entered the exhibition

In addition, a sound element accompanied the show, enhancing the overall experience, although it cannot be seen in these images.

Our goal was to create a peaceful sanctuary where viewers could immerse themselves in Bianca's paintings, and I honestly believe that we succeeded tremendously.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to @steveturnerla and @jonkeebong for trusting and supporting our vision, as well as the countless others who helped bring this show to life.

"I would like to share the story behind a recent show that I curated @steveturnerla with my artist and friend @biancanemelc’s work, titled 'Eutierria.’

I first met Bianca through her then-boyfriend, now fiancé, @victorromanstudios, while filming video content for a show I curated featuring his work. During a film break, I noticed some paintings around their apartment that caught my eye (slides 3 & 4). It turned out that Bianca had created them all in her free time.
Reflecting on that moment, I was inspired by Bianca's ability to make the most of her time. At that point, she had a full-time job and was still creating amazing artwork at home. Her home studio was overflowing with her creations, and I knew it wouldn't be long before she needed more space outside their apartment to exhibit her work properly.

Around the same time, I was organizing a solo show for @rosskramergallery of @jkey13’s work for the @springbreakartshow. The theme of the show was around who we are at home versus who we are in public. I felt that Bianca's work related to this theme as well, and when I showed Jon her work, he agreed. That's how Jon’s solo show became their dual show, 'Home Body.'

Working on that show was a great experience. Jon and Bianca had no egos, and their friends who came to help were the same. Everyone showed up to get the job done. From that experience, I knew that someday I wanted to curate solo shows with both Jon and Bianca in an actual gallery. It almost happened with Jon in New York in early 2021, but things fell through. Two years before that, I almost had a show with Bianca in LA in 2019, but I'm grateful that it didn't work out. At the time, I wasn't, but Bianca somehow knew it wasn't right. Her patience is what had got her to this point after all.

And that patience (and hard work) has paid off.

In the four years since that “lost” opportunity in LA, Bianca had gone from painting in her free time to painting full-time. She had exhibited her work in cities across the world, like Hong Kong and London, and even had shows in her hometown of New York City. However, a show in Los Angeles had still not happened.

It's been exactly 549 days since my last Instagram post, but I've been anything but idle. While you may have caught glimpses of my recent endeavors in my stories, I regret not sharing them permanently on my feed.

Before I delve into my recent happenings, let me finish what I started posting about two Septembers ago: my friend and artist @bernadettedespujols. Since we opened 'The Vast Ocean in Which the Woman Swims' at @racheluffnergallery back on September 2021, Bernadette has been through a whirlwind of activity. I’d like to take a moment here to celebrate her incredible accomplishments.

She's had three solo shows, including 'I Love You Man' at @spinelloprojects in Miami, 'Homesick' at @ninomiergallery in Los Angeles, and 'Oh Man!' at the @greenfamilyartfoundation in Dallas. She was also part of the major group show 'Shattered Glass' with @jeffreydeitchgallery in Miami during Basel, and her work was acquired by the @icamiami. Additionally, she was the recipient of The Colene Brown Art Prize by @bricbrooklyn, and has garnered representation by three amazing galleries - Nino Mier Gallery in Los Angeles, Spinello Projects in Miami, and Rachel Uffner Gallery in New York. It's clear that Bernadette is on track to become a force to be reckoned with in the art world.

But that's not all. In addition to all her artistic pursuits, Bernadette also found time to get married and welcome a beautiful baby girl into the world.

She is the definition of a super woman.

Looking back at all that's transpired, it's hard to believe it's only been 549 days. It's a good reminder to never underestimate the power of hard work and dedication in achieving one's goals. I'm proud to have played a part in Bernadette’s beautiful journey and inspired by her to work even harder on my own.

Perhaps it's time for me to start sharing my own journey on this platform once again, in the hopes that I can inspire others the way Bernadette has inspired me.

Today is the last chance to experience @heatherday’s immersive video installation from her current solo show “Convergence.” Closing after today @annazorinagallery.

“An immersive three panel video installation that projects Day’s mark making process in real time. Created from recordings of Day’s studio, these animations are modified in digital post production, transcending the work to a new media that blurs the line between paint and pixels. The imagery is supported by an ASMR sound component that gives the viewer an intimate experience of seeing the work come to life right before their eyes. Utilizing these innovative technologies, Day continues to expand her lexicon, both carrying the viewer back in time, and projecting future possibilities.”

ATTENTION TO DETAIL! 🎨👀

I’ve said this once before and I’ll say it here again. @heatherday’s paintings must be viewed in person to truly be seen. Photographs do not do her work any justice!

This is the final week to see her solo show “Convergence.” Curated by yours truly.

Which means that this is your final chance to go to @annazorinagallery to get up close and personal with these amazing works of art.

There are so many beautiful moments in each painting that you’ll never experience through a photograph or online. I promise you won’t regret the trip.

For those of you that can’t make it. I’m hoping some of these hi-res images can give you an idea, but they still don’t compare to the real thing.
