📣‼️ Postponed - new date to be confirmed shortly!! Join us for a night of poetry celeberating Arachane Press’s new collection ‘Up//Roar: Poems of Queer Resistence’. “The environment for LGBTQ+ communities has changed alarmingly quickly in the last two years and these are new queer poems for bleaker times. Are we angry? You bet we are. Do we still laugh, make jokes, make love, make friends, forge communities and make a lot of noise? Of course. Poetry is an act of resistance, it gives us strength, and it takes many forms, from singing to nail varnish, gossip to badges, refusing to back down and refusing to forget. What is Queer Resistance? Coming out as Queer Resistance! Living bold as Queer Resistance! Pushing back as Queer Resistance! Shouting out as Queer Resistance! Showing up as Queer Resistance! Knowing history as Queer Resistance! Doing the work as Queer Resistance! Politics as Queer Resistance! Creativity as Queer Resistance! The exclamation mark as Queer Resistance! Now is the time for Queer Resistance!” As usual you can reserve a seat for £5 which will act as a deposit for any purchases made at the event or you can order the book with your ticket at a discounted price of £10. Tickets available on our website as well as detailed accessibility information. Refreshments provided and always alcohol free. DM us or email for any questions at all! by @cherry_potts_writer
Not my cat. Regular visitor tries to get in the house. Portia and Tirzah are NOT amused. He didn't like me removing him from the deckchair. I am of course reminded that this is how the Sainted Julian introduced himself to the family, but P&T would have given even him short shrift. I hope he has a home, he is very healthy and vigorous. by @cherry_potts_writer
3 #pottery #cats front 2 are Raku, and I think recognisable as Tirzah and Portia, back one is stoneware and slip, and is meant to be Julian (of beloved memory) but something went wrong with his proportions. Funny how you can't see it until it comes out of kiln. Another view of 3 pottery cats. 2 stoneware slab built and block imprinted pots, and one Raku coiled. Same 2 #stoneware slab built pots different angle, plus tiger stoneware moon jar that only works from this side. I got too clever with my masking and ruined it. Heyho. It's all learning innit. Not using liquid latex again. #Raku cats before firing #Raku coiled pot before bisque firing #raku cats before bisque firing by @cherry_potts_writer

Double decker cats waiting for it to be cool enough to go back out. Tirzah (lower deck) is doing that clever optical illusion cats do, she is in fact much smaller than Portia, who is doing ' no, I don't need to go to the vet despite frightening the life out of you an hour ago'. We'll see. by @cherry_potts_writer
Arachne Press (@arachnepress) Director Cherry Potts (@cherry_potts_writer) boards I Don’t March to That Drum as an executive producer with a donation of £1,000! About the project: I Don’t March to That Drum is a poetry and music project by Dean Atta (@deanatta) and Antosh Wojcik (@antoshwojcik), taking poems from Dean Atta’s forthcoming poetry collection of the same name and setting them to music composed by drummer Antosh Wojcik. Dean’s poems celebrate his Blackness and queerness while acknowledging the challenges other Black and queer people have faced and continue to face worldwide. The show is a rallying cry for love and solidarity, urging us to stand together yet march to the beat of our own drum. The crowdfunder: Dean and Antosh aim to raise £5,000 to cover their time and expenses for a two-week residency at Metal in Southend (@metalsouthend) in July, as well as to onboard a director and producer to take the project forward. They’ve currently raised £3,403 from 87 supporters with three days to reach their goal. Further executive producer credits are available for £1,000 donations. The crowdfunder link is in Dean and Antosh’s bios: @deanatta @antoshwojcik. by @cherry_potts_writer

I've not said anything on here until now about the death of my wife, Alix, it's been too painful. But I want to thank everyone for their cards and letters and emails, I am not able to respond to each individually yet, but your support has been appreciated. and even bigger thanks to those of you for your input into making the funeral the fabulous thing that Alix so richly deserved, singing, speaking, decorating the coffin, organising the singing, rehearsing, composing music specially, and just turning up to be with me on the day and before and since. What wonderful friends we both have. You are cherished. by @cherry_potts_writer
