To celebrate the 30th anniversary of my debut solo album Naked, it’s coming to PINK VINYL for the very first time! 💗✨and I absolutely LOVE it!!!

And that’s not all… the release includes a 12-page photo booklet featuring some of my favourite images from that era, alongside some never-before-seen shots. Plus, we’ve created some exclusive Naked merch for you!

The album features Light of My Life, In Walked Love, Naked, One Kiss from Heaven and Undivided Love. So many songs and memories that take me right back to where my solo career began. 💗 Let me know what your favourite song is from the album?!

Our Album Of The Month is Mercury Rev’s all encompassing All Is Dream.

Formed in Buffalo, New York in 1989, Mercury Rev became leading figures in left-field alternative rock, moving from early experimental psychedelia to the serene, piano-based Americana of 1998’s Deserter’s Songs. All Is Dream followed in 2001, produced once again by Dave Fridmann with a more expansive, cinematic sound - and it remains the band’s highest-charting UK album to date.

Catch Mercury Rev on their UK tour this October, with dates in Sunderland, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester and London.

Peter Hammill 📸 by Anton Corbijn

For more than five decades, Peter Hammill has pursued music without much concern for whether it fitted comfortably anywhere. As the founder and driving force behind Van der Graaf Generator, and through an enormous solo catalogue of his own, he built a body of work around emotional extremity, mortality, time and human frailty. His voice is a huge part of that identity. Hammill can sound intimate one moment and completely uncontained the next, pushing from a close, almost conversational delivery into the kind of raw, dramatic howl that became one of his signatures. That emotional extremity gave his music a character few of his contemporaries shared, particularly when the songs themselves were already dealing with fear, isolation, ageing and psychological pressure. He was never easy to box into progressive rock either. Nadir’s Big Chance, released in 1975, is one of the clearest examples. The album was harder, more aggressive and more direct than much of the progressive rock surrounding it, and its influence reached into the generation that followed. Long before punk became a defined movement, Hammill had already shown that abrasive energy and unconventional songwriting could exist in the same space. That reach is part of what makes his career so unusual. David Bowie, Johnny Rotten, Thom Yorke and Mark E. Smith all came from very different musical worlds, yet Hammill’s work resonated with each of them. His audience may never have been built around mainstream visibility, but the people paying attention often happened to be musicians who went on to reshape British music in their own way.

More than fifty years into his career, Hammill is still writing from the same restless place. Tears Of Time, his first new album in five years, brings together eleven reflective songs recorded between 1991 and 2026. Released through Cherry Red Records, the album is available now on CD, vinyl and streaming.

Today marks 10 years since Van der Graaf Generator’s Do Not Disturb.

The band’s 13th studio album, recorded in the closing months of 2015 and the spring of 2016 - a true group effort from Peter Hammill, Hugh Banton and Guy Evans, delivering music that’s both powerful and emotive, continuing a tradition of influence on successive generations of musicians.

Today we’re revisiting a clip of Peter Hammill talking about the album.

Today marks the anniversary of Pere Ubu’s 20 Years In A Montana Missile Silo, released 29 September 2017. The band’s sixteenth studio album, led by David Thomas alongside Gary Siperko and Keith Moliné on guitar, Kristof Hahn on steel guitar, Michele Temple on bass, Robert Wheeler on analog synths and theremin, Steve Mehlman on drums, and contributions from Darryl Boon and Roshi Nasehi. The album was dedicated to Paul Hamann of Suma Recording, who died shortly before its release.

Today we’re revisiting an interview clip of David Thomas discussing the making of the record.

Today marks 28 years since The Fall’s Levitate, released 29 September 1997 on Artful Records. The group’s 19th album, and the last to feature two long-serving members - drummer Karl Burns and bassist Steve Hanley, whose playing Mark E. Smith once called the defining sound of the group.

Recorded amid personnel turmoil, a mounting VAT bill and Smith’s increasingly erratic behaviour, the sessions saw a producer walk out with the tapes, a drummer quit mid-album, and Julia Nagle step in on guitar, keyboards and vocals. The record also features an early collaboration with a then-unknown Damon Gough, later known as Badly Drawn Boy.

Unboxing From Genesis To Revelation - the deluxe 4CD/Blu-ray edition of the band’s debut album.

Prepared with the approval of Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips and Mike Rutherford, this 5-disc box set features new stereo, 5.1 and Atmos mixes by Stephen W Tayler, alongside remastered versions of the original mono and stereo LP mixes, singles and rare demos.

Also includes bonus video of Banks, Gabriel and Rutherford at AIR Studios discussing the album and reviewing the new mixes, plus a 68-page illustrated book with an extensive essay featuring contributions from all four founding members.
