POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The fantastic 'House Of Love' debut album and 'Destroy The Heart' single.
.
Released in 1988, they were a building block in the UK 'indie' scene and 'shoegaze' genre. A necessary album to own...a real classic.
.
Let's take a few minutes to talk a bit about this album and single.

Today marks the anniversary of Felt’s The Strange Idols Pattern And Other Short Stories, released on 26 October 1984. The band’s third album, produced by John Leckie, found Felt moving into a fuller, hi-fi sound. Here’s a look at the remastered vinyl edition

Today is the anniversary ofThe Fall’s Dragnet, the group’s second studio album, released on 26 October 1979 on Step-Forward. The album anticipated two defining features of the group’s career, high productivity and high turnover, and it has been praised ever since, with 4/5 in MOJO, 8.7/10 on Pitchfork and 4/5 in Q. It features Mark E. Smith alongside Steve Hanley, Marc Riley, Craig Scanlon, Mike Leigh, Kay Carroll and Yvonne Pawlett.

Tom Verlaine turned down the chance to produce it, John Peel got the nastiest letter of his career over it: Felt’s The Strange Idols Pattern and Other Short Stories remains one of indie’s great lost records. Read the full article by @jamesbalmont and listen to the album on the Cantilever app now.

That’s my Friday afternoon show archived to listen back. I mean, nobody’s leaving the house today, right? A fairly random selection this month, new arrivals and blasts from the past: from trip-hop to proto-disco, jazz-fusion to library reggae, contemporary soul to experimental indie… ENJOY!

Spectral Songs is a mixtape for #Halloween that collects dark, macabre and gothic moments from Toyah’s catalogue. Perfect for the season of witches, ghosts, beasts, demons and voodoo. It’s a frightfully good listen. Playlist available now at Spotify: https://bit.ly/4ziMcFh

Today marks the anniversary of Kim’s Dancing In The Dark, released in 1983 as the second single Catch As Catch Can.
A more dance-oriented sound than her earlier work, it reached number 67 in the UK and was her final UK release for her original label, RAK Records.
