I’ve changed. I plan to keep changing.

Learning new skills. Building new things. Asking better questions.

Technology keeps evolving. So do I. 🖤

Small details. Bigger picture.

This week’s tech tip: OSINT
Open-Source Intelligence.

It means gathering and analyzing publicly available information to answer questions. Think public posts, photos, websites and profiles.

A location tag, a workplace mention or a detail in a photo’s background can seem insignificant on its own. Connected together, those details can reveal more about our lives than we intended.

A quick digital check: • Who can see your posts? • What’s visible in your photos? • What are other people tagging you in?

We can enjoy sharing our lives while being more intentional about what we make public.

Technology is the tool. Humanity is the purpose. -Ash

This is the heart behind what I’m building.

Cheryl.OS supports the work I do with enterprise technology partners, helping companies access the cloud, cybersecurity, advisory, and technology resources needed to grow with confidence.

Ancient Intelligence is where I give back - sharing practical tech education and tools that help people and communities feel more capable in a digital world.
I’ll be sharing weekly tips, resources, and real conversations around technology that can make everyday life and business a little easier.

Technology is the tool. Humanity is the purpose. Thank you to my best friend and business partner @christopher.hemming and my mentor and friend @traceystroup_eatprayfaith

🚨 MUST READ: Your phone knows where you go, who you talk to, and how to access many of your accounts.

Take five minutes to protect it. 📱🔐

1️⃣ Notification previews
Why: Messages and verification codes may appear while your phone is locked.
✅ Fix: Notifications → Lock Screen → show previews only when unlocked.

2️⃣ Automatic updates
Why: Updates repair known security weaknesses.
✅ Fix: Software/System Update + App Store settings → enable automatic updates.

3️⃣ Find My Device + theft protection
Why: You can locate, lock, or erase a stolen phone and block sensitive changes.
✅ Fix: Search Settings for “Find My Device” and “Stolen Device Protection” → turn both on.

4️⃣ Spam-call and message filtering
Why: Many scams begin with an unexpected call or text.
✅ Fix: Phone and Messages settings → enable caller ID, spam protection, and unknown-sender filtering.

5️⃣ Location permissions
Why: Apps may collect your location when they don’t need it.
✅ Fix: Privacy → Location Services/App Permissions → select “While Using the App.” Disable precise location unless necessary.

6️⃣ App tracking
Why: Apps can build a profile of your activity across other apps and websites.
✅ Fix: Privacy → Tracking or Ads → deny unnecessary tracking and limit personalized advertising.

7️⃣ Open Wi-Fi auto-join
Why: Your phone could automatically connect to an unsafe or impersonated network.
✅ Fix: Wi-Fi/Network Preferences → disable automatic connections to open networks.

Setting names may vary slightly between iPhone and Android.

Most people won’t check all seven today. Check one, save this list, and send it to someone you want to protect.

Which setting surprised you most?

🚨 MUST READ: 7 cyber risks hiding in plain sight.

Most security breaches don’t begin with an elite hacker. They begin with an old login, forgotten permission, exposed answer, or overlooked setting.

Here’s what to check:

1️⃣ Browser extensions
Some extensions can read what you type or view online.
✅ Fix: Remove unused extensions and review permissions.

2️⃣ Old devices
Previous phones and computers may still be signed into your accounts.
✅ Fix: Review connected devices and remotely sign out of anything you no longer use.

3️⃣ App permissions
Apps may retain access to your camera, microphone, contacts, and location.
✅ Fix: Check permissions monthly and disable unnecessary access.

4️⃣ Shared documents
Comments, names, and revision history may remain visible.
✅ Fix: Make a clean copy or export a PDF before sharing externally.

5️⃣ Security questions
Answers involving schools, pets, birthdays, and hometowns may already appear online.
✅ Fix: Use unique, unrelated answers and store them in your password manager.

6️⃣ Password-reset emails
Access to your email could unlock several other accounts.
✅ Fix: Protect your email with a unique password, multifactor authentication, and updated recovery options.

7️⃣ Public USB ports
USB connections can transfer data as well as power.
✅ Fix: Use your own wall charger, power bank, or charge-only cable.

Cybersecurity isn’t only about creating stronger passwords. It’s also about closing the forgotten doors.

Save this checklist. Check one today. Share it with someone you want to protect. 🔐

Which one surprised you most?

Working in cybersecurity has completely changed how I move online. The smallest habits can create the biggest vulnerabilities, and convenience isn’t always worth the risk.

I’m still learning, but these are 11 habits I no longer take lightly. Which one are you guilty of? 👀🔐

Excited for what’s ahead. ✨

Grateful to have been accepted to Supabase 2026 and the OPSWAT Academy, with a female tech leadership conference coming up as well.

Every opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with incredible people in technology feels like another step forward. I couldn’t be happier or more grateful for what’s next. 💻🔐✨

Coming soon: Ancient Intelligence

We keep talking about artificial intelligence like intelligence itself is something new.

But humans have always learned from patterns. From nature. From language. From mathematics. From one another. We’ve been collecting, connecting, and passing knowledge forward for thousands of years.

This e-book is my exploration of what happens when we stop treating AI like something separate from humanity and start asking a better question:

How do we use powerful technology without losing the parts of us that matter most?

Inside, I’m sharing the prompts, ideas, and lessons that have helped me use AI with more intention, curiosity, and clarity.

Not to replace human thought.

To deepen it.

Technology is the tool. Humanity is the purpose.
