When the lupins were still in bloom at the start of July, I got to work on this commissioned painting. I had to put it down for a few weeks but happily finished it this weekend. So smitten!

I am drawn to piles and attempts to organize things. If you knew me (and my ADD) you’d understand that piles of things (and forever organizing them) are just a way of life for this gal. I am constantly trying to stay on top of my random mis-placement of things.

Small collage studies abstracting familiar elements. I enjoy deconstructing old work on paper and rearranging the parts into an energetic mass that feels more balanced and whole. There is symbolic metaphor there in the process that leads to a lot of self reflection. Anyway I like them and would like to turn them into paintings soon. :)

Feeling everything all the time. Carrying it all, including myself. Soft yet strong. Tired yet resilient. Beauty and love seem hidden and out of reach some days. When the world feels ugly, let us be reminders for each other, okay? We are nature; beautifully imperfect, diverse, complex. by @cheryllavigneart

I had started a large painting outdoors in the fall of 2024 that I had never finished once I left the location. It has been up on my easel for the past few months, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to finish it or start fresh. I decided that I will try to resolve it, without any reference photos, finding that sweet spot between representation and abstraction, making marks, trying to make sense of the thing.
