“Always be prepared for the opportunity and never have the opportunity come and not be prepared.” 💫

That is my favorite quote, one I’ve kept close to my heart since college. And the man behind those words has been a guiding light in my life since the age of 5.

Long before he was a world-renowned motivational speaker, Les Brown was the voice in my ear on WVKV radio back in our hometown of Columbus, Ohio. I watched his journey as he became a politician, followed his work through my college years, and later, after I got married, our paths crossed again. He even gave me the incredible privilege of co-hosting a couple of shows with him on talk radio in Los Angeles!

When I wrote my first book, The Hollywood Preacher, and later The Unshakeable Woman: 10 Steps to Guide Women Into Healing, Les supported me wholeheartedly, sending me every cassette and book he had ever recorded or published around the globe.

He was the person who constantly reminded me: always be prepared for whatever comes.
Receiving his powerful words about my new book, “Balancing Executive Business and Caregiving”, means more than I can express. I am so deeply grateful for this quote today and am sending continuous prayers and blessings over Les, Ona, John-Leslie and the entire family. 🙏

I am deeply honored and grateful to share that my abstract, “Balancing Executive Business and Caregiving: A Guide to Avoid Caregiver Burnout and Achieve Balance,” has been accepted for presentation at the upcoming USCAIH & Howard University CNAHS 2026 Conference, taking place October 2–4, 2026. I will be presenting on Saturday, October 3rd (time to be announced).

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Janell Harvey for encouraging me to write this abstract and submit it to Howard University. Your guidance and support truly made this moment possible.

Before another decade begins, the soul requires stillness.

Today was a sacred pause. Exactly thirty days from now, I will step into sixty years of life and grace. After years of pouring out as a nurse, caring for others, I chose to use my time today for a different kind of restoration. No work. No endless productivity. Just quiet healing, deep rest, and taking in the beauty of God’s nature.

Rest is not a luxury; it is a spiritual practice. That is why I am making a deliberate choice this month: every Tuesday in November is reserved for a staycation. A dedicated day to breathe, reflect, and prepare my heart for this next milestone.
