Freaking out because @catgundrybeck sent me these photos literally three hours ago and I’m so excited I couldn’t wait to post these 😍

We went out on a frozen and blustery day in April to find the last wild ice of the season. Found this frozen patch of pond and I’m so glad we did! I’m over the moon with how well these photos turned out 🤍 thank you thank you @catgundrybeck for being such a sport! So happy to have you hooked on the skating bug, I already cannot wait for next winter 🤍

What a whirlwind week it’s been!!

September has disappeared in the blink of an eye. This week I turned 35 and skated at my second ever haustmót. I began competing in skating 2 years ago, and so much has happened since then - this sport has well and truly taken over my life in the best way ❤️

I’ve been training nonstop for this competition and I couldn’t be happier of the way I skated. Just two days earlier I had a bad fall on a morning session and ended up with 5 new stitches in my face, but I gave it my all and skated the best that I knew I could.

I don’t get new skills as easily as someone half or a third of my age, and I never did movement as a kid. Coming to this sport as an adult has completely reshaped the way I think about learning things as we get older, and how I approach life.

I show up because I love this sport. It combines everything that I love in life - music, dance, theatre, resilience, hard work, determination.

The adult skating community is so supportive, I’m so grateful to every single one of you who pushes me to do better, we cheer each other on!!! I’m so grateful to everyone who has helped make the skating community my home in Iceland. Thank you so much to all of my friends who came to watch me skate, and most of all thank you to all the coaches - especially @danettesss and @fjolnirlist - who have helped make this dream possible!

I was on a walk with Laksa in my neighbourhood when the sky started turning green. Not half a minute later it exploded into some of the wildest northern lights I’ve ever seen.

All shot on iPhone with video in real time. G2 geomagnetic storm following the arrival of a CME that left the sun 2 days ago!
