I even got a 'going home' gift courtesy of @barfootsuk of a pumpkin and a guide on how to create a spooky pumpkin for #halloween. So obvs now watching Wallace and Gromit The Curse of a Were-Rabbit whilst planning on what to do with my mini pumpkin. I hope it doesn't grow overnight!!! by @chesh_ellen

PRESSURE (2026), directed by Anthony Maras, written by David Haig

All my favourite actors in one film:

Andrew Scott.
Brendan Fraser.
Chris Messina.
Damian Lewis.
Con O’Neill.

Standing around in rooms, talking about the weather.

What’s not to love? 😂

Honestly, I was sold at “Andrew Scott as a meteorologist”. 🌧️

OK. I admit it. It had me at "Andrew Scott".

I went to a marvellous bookshop in Chichester, @chichesterbooks, and had a look at the books they are selling from the estate of Patricia Routledge - it's certainly an eclectic mix, demonstrating the broad range of interests she has. Some books inc. bonus inserts such as letters and dedications.

The whole shop is full of treasures. Definitely worth a visit whenever you are in #chichester.

Important to support independent shops.

Recovered from @dirt_in_the_gate_movies #Grindfest26, slightly dazzled, mildly sleep-deprived but back in the sunshine.

3 days of vampires, werewolves, 3D space adventures, Gothic time travel, body horror & splash of giallo.

eXistenZ: A gloriously squelchy, reality-bending wild ride. Rewatch and still love it.
Vamp: 80s college sexploitation vampire comedy with Grace Jones as a vampire queen. Obviously magnificent.
Starchaser: The Legend of Orin 3D: Not seen since its original release and it rang absolutely no bells. Not even the wildly inappropriate-for-a-PG “fembot”. Apparently I erased this one completely.
Amira: Atmospheric Gothic short which builds suspense beautifully.
Frankenstein Unbound: Time travel, Frankenstein, Mary Shelley, Percy, Byron and classical Gothic literature. Exactly my sort of nonsense. Loved it.
The Phantom of the Opera: Another time-travelling trip into Gothic lit, with Robert Englund getting his teeth into Gaston Leroux. Gloriously excessive.
Tenebrae: Argento doing peak Argento. Stylish, lurid and beautifully nasty. Fright Night Part 2: The mystery movie revealed! And I preferred it to the first one, which I absolutely loved. So there.
Silver Bullet: Stephen King, werewolves, small-town America and pre-Twin Peaks Everett McGill wearing an eye patch. Very 80s and very enjoyable.
Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire: Alan Clarke makes a musical about snooker. Alan Armstrong plays a vampire. Phil Daniels plays snooker. Why is this not better known? Gloriously British but somehow not quite bonkers enough.
No Such Thing as a Vampire: Lost BBC Late Night Horror. Properly atmospheric and a great way to finish.

Then I legged it for the train, only to spend two hours at Christchurch station because of a points failure. So I watched The People Under the Stairs on my tiny tablet while everyone back at the @regentchristchurch watched it on the big screen. Turns out there was a reason I hadn't planned to stay for it. Not one for me.

I love #Grindfest: physical film, communal cinema, enthusiastic introductions, popular favourites and obscure discoveries.

Although I could have done without the couple persistently snogging behind me! by @chesh_ellen
