Happy Birthday Alexander! 🌸

Alexander Tallén works in the tradition of porcelain figurines, exploring art historical tableaux combined with contemporary endeavours and escapism. In this historical tradition, the conversation pieces Tallén presents evoke curiosity and narratives where only the beholder’s fantasy sets the limits. In his works, the motifs evoke thoughts of contemplation and wonder through art historical tableaux or everyday scenes. Through the characters’ expressions and actions, the artist pinpoints the futility and absurdities of life as well as its playfulness and possibilities.

Alexander Tallén (b. 1988) is based in Stockholm and has an MFA from the University of Arts, Crafts and Design, Stockholm (2015).

Exhibitions include Ystads konstmuseum, Höganäs Museum, the Thiel Gallery, Stockholm, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Eskilstuna Art Museum, Skövde Art Museum, Rian Designmuseum, Falkenberg and Vida Museum & Konsthall, Borgholm. He was awarded the Young Applied Artists Scholarship, Bengt Julin Fund, administered by the Friends of National Museum of Fine Arts in 2019.

Tallén is represented in the collections of the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Malmö Art Museum, Kunstsilo, Kristiansand, Norway, Borås Art Museum, Uppsala Art Museum, Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft, Eskilstuna Art Museum, Public Art Agency Sweden and The Warehouse | Art Museum and Research Center, Milwaukee, WI, USA.

We are pleased to present David Molander’s fourth solo exhibition at the gallery, 'Hjärtat med vänner', featuring a new series of drawings and watercolours on paper.

Opening 1 October 17:00–20:00

Alongside his photographic practice, Molander has explored different media throughout his career. With this exhibition, he turns his attention to the intimate and immediate possibilities of drawing and painting, creating a world that feels at once familiar and strangely distant.

Rendered in delicate watercolour, the works are populated by mysterious creatures that move between human and animal forms. They appear to emerge from forests, mist, and undefined landscapes, caught in quiet moments as if unexpectedly glimpsed in their own universe.

The soft colours and blurred edges allow the figures to appear and disappear within the paper. At times almost abstract, at others clearly figurative, the works remain suspended between recognition and imagination.

David Molander (b. 1983) graduated from the School of Photography at Gothenburg University in 2010. He also studied film and photography at Harvard University. Molander is known for his longstanding engagement with Slussen, which has resulted in several public commissions in the area. His Slussen work has also been exhibited at ArkDes, the Hasselblad Center, and the Stockholm City Museum, and is now part of the permanent collection of Moderna Museet.

Molander's work has been shown at Gothenburg Art Museum, Gothenburg City Museum, Kulturhuset, Färgfabriken, Fotografiska, Arkitekturmuseum/Museum of Architecture and Design, Hasselblad Center, Stockholm City Museum, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Boston, Storefront for Art and Architecture and Julie Saul Gallery, New York, and Musée de l'Elysée, Lausanne.

Molander is represented in the collections of the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet, Beckers Art Collection, Gothenburg Art Museum, Hasselblad Foundation, Ståhl Collection, Public Art Agency Sweden, Stockholm Konst, Region Stockholm, Region Jönköpings län, Stockholm Art Council, Åmell's Collection and in private collections in SE, UK, CH and USA.

We are pleased to present Linnea Rygaard’s fifth solo exhibition at the gallery, 'Area 51', featuring a new series of acrylic paintings.

Opening 1 October 17:00–20:00

In the new show, the artist takes her starting point from the real yet highly mythologised site in Nevada, whose restricted architecture and surrounding culture of secrecy have made it a fertile ground for ideas of the strange and unknown.

Through a series of large-scale paintings, environments emerge in which architectural structures intersect with images of captured spacecraft, laboratories, and detained aliens. The geographical site is transformed into a mental and pictorial terrain, where elements drawn from reality are combined with imagined scenarios. The paintings depict spaces that appear both functional and enigmatic, carefully constructed yet ultimately impossible to fully decipher. They exist somewhere between realism and fiction, inviting the viewer to look for clues while withholding a clear narrative.

Linnea Rygaard (b. 1990) holds an MFA from the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm (2016) and attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, USA, in 2015. Rygaard was awarded the Royal Institute of Art's residency at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2016. Her work has been shown at Market Art Fair, The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Stockholm, HILDE Gallery, Los Angeles, CHART Art Fair, and Liljevalchs konsthall.

Public commissions include a site-specific mural on Kungsgatan in Stockholm, a sculptural installation in Varberg and at Magnus Ladulås Square in Jönköping, a mural commissioned by Stockholm City Council/Stockholm Konst, and site-specific paintings for the municipalities of Uppsala and Gävle.

Rygaard is represented in the collections of Uppsala Art Museum, Västerås konstmuseum, Public Art Agency Sweden, Stockholm Konst, Region Uppsala, Region Halland, Region Dalarna, Region Gävleborg, Region Skåne, Region Stockholm, as well as in the collections of the municipalities of Uppsala, Varberg, Knivsta, Östersund and Jönköping. She is also represented in corporate and private collections.
