☀️ + Johan Bergström Hyldahl’s animals, rendered in 3D-prints, on floor 5, Sveavägen 65.

The panda, the monkey, the tiger and the elephant look both alive and completely surreal at the same time when they move and follow you with their gazes. Are they looking forward to a great adventure or begging us to protect them and their nature?

Bergström Hyldahl is an SSE alumni, and also holds an MFA from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.

“Avslutningen ska inte spoilas. Men när sluttexten rullar till Vera Lynns vemodiga sång ”We’ll meet again / Don’t know where / Don’t know when…” – som under andra världskriget var ett rop av både hopp och förtvivlan – är det svårt att hålla tårarna tillbaka över oss, arma människor. Headline: "Uncanny close to Putin's threat of nuclear war”

Ingress: "If women ruled the world, would peace be given a chance then? That is the question Yael Bartana asks in her terrifying intriguing film where a female government meets nuclear threats from a nation ruled by men.”

"Doomsday is approaching mercilessly in Yael Bartana's film from 2021. It is powerful and suggestive. The reality with dramatic news from the war in Ukraine, the (in)security situation in the world and the conversations about NATO make the work shockingly relevant.”

"Yael Bartana's ability to mix facts with fiction and the mistakes of the past with hope for the future is puzzlingly effective. The government is staged by actors. The invited experts, on the other hand, represent real offices and organizations."

The ending paragraph: ”The ending should not be spoiled. But when the final scenes roll to the lyrics of Vera Lynn's melancholy song "We'll meet again / Do not know where / Do not know when…" - which during World War II was a cry of both hope and despair - it is difficult to hold back the tears for us, us poor people. Two minutes to midnight we are facing a chaos created by ourselves and with more questions than answers about our continued existence."
