Back in 1994, the last time the U.S. hosted the World Cup, my dad took me to see Belgium vs. Germany at Soldier Field. Even though we don’t have any pictures from that day, I’ll never forget the game or the experience.

More than 30 years later, I got to experience the World Cup in the States again with my old man. Different game, different stage of life, but every bit as memorable as that day in ’94.

Happy Father’s Day, Pops. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and my brothers.

I’m still in shock and disbelief over the news of Margaret’s passing. She was a true Chicago running legend and, quite honestly, one of the nicest people I have ever met.
I had the opportunity to know Margaret for over 16 years. She and Enrique actually met at our Carrera de los Muertos. She shared how Carrera meant a lot to her and consistently supported not only that race, but many fundraisers and other events that I organized over the years. I will always appreciate her endless support, her generosity, her humility, and her joyful spirit. Her smile was truly infectious. I can’t emphasize enough how genuinely nice and kind she was, which is why her sudden passing has sent shockwaves through our beloved running community...not just in Chicago, but far beyond.

Margaret was an incredibly gifted and competitive runner, and a multiple-time Ironman finisher. I always admired her discipline and goal-driven mindset. I vividly remember occasionally driving past her in the mornings on my way to work, honking as she ran through Pilsen.

Back when Nike hosted NRC speed workouts, she was the only woman running with the “fast” group (pic attached). Margaret will forever leave a void in Chicago’s running community, but her impact and legacy will live on far beyond our years. I will miss her dearly.

My most sincere condolences to the entire Rivera and Venados family.

Friends and family, I’m really proud to finally share my latest passion project, La Carrera de las Madres.

Ever since we launched Carrera, I knew I wanted to create another race…something just as meaningful and rooted in our cultura. This one is an ode to the special women in our lives. Our moms, abuelitas, tías, sisters, mentors, the matriarchs who hold families together and lead with strength and love. The women who deserve more than just a single day of appreciation.

Just like Carrera, this event will celebrate culture and community while also offering a competitive race experience for those who want to push themselves within their age divisions. At its core, this race is for everyone…men, women, kids, seniors…anyone who wants to show up in honor of the women who mean the most to them.

We’ll also be highlighting another incredible Chicago neighborhood, Archer Heights and the Midway area. Join us on Saturday, May 9 at Archer Park as we begin what I hope becomes another annual Chicago tradition.

A special shout out to my mom @rosie0ne, mis dos abuelas que en paz descansen, and all the women who have shaped and continue to shape my life. This one is for you.

I hope you’ll be part of it. by @chi_los

It took me a few days to get over how crazy that Bears comeback was last week; what a priceless experience to say the least.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and the past couple of months have been a whirlwind, as they tend to be. This year was no different.

I had the chance to meet Ramón Ayala Jr. at the White Sox game in late September and to catch his concert the very next day. October is always the busiest time of year, starting with the Chicago Marathon. This year felt different with everything going on, yet I’m incredibly proud of our team for how they showed up and executed, and of our community for the way they supported one another and the 50,000+ runners we welcomed.

Then came our annual Una Familia Gala at Instituto, our largest fundraiser of the year. This one was especially memorable as we honored the legendary Dolores Huerta. I was fortunate to be the one to take her to the airport the next morning (a 4 a.m. run I’d gladly do again). I’m still not sure what was cooler — talking politics and food with her, or having her sign Santi’s children’s book.

We closed the month with our 18th Carrera de los Muertos, our biggest yet, with nearly 8,000 participants. We’ve reached another level, becoming one of the largest races in Chicago. This year’s Carrera was all about unity. Our community came out and ran for those who couldn’t, for those who are scared. And, as they do every year, our runners supported small businesses afterward, injecting much-needed dollars into neighborhoods most affected by the recent raids. I’m deeply proud of that and committed to continuing to support these local anchors in our communities.

It’s been a rollercoaster these past few months, but one that reaffirms why I love what I do. I’m deeply grateful for my colleagues, friends, and family who made each of these moments possible. Our work isn’t finished yet. by @chi_los

5:30AM crew. 🌅

Zone 6 — Pilsen & Chinatown.

Out before sunrise with @chi_los putting in work for the Chicago Marathon.

Different kind of grind today.
No miles, no finish line, just pure community love.

Sometimes it’s not about the run itself, but about planting those little seeds that help this amazing event come to life. 🌆✨

We hit the streets early and knocked it out faster than lightning ⚡️because that’s what the running community is all about: showing up, giving back, and keeping the city moving.

Big shoutout to everyone who came out and got it done with us.
Chicago, we are ready for you!⚡️👟💨

A big shout out to @diskeuno for creating this piece for us; our newest addition to our home. Titled “Santiago” in honor of our son, who is depicted in the painting. This piece symbolizes the past, present and the future.

La abuela de Angie always loved geraniums, and Angie wanted to make sure they were included.
The monarch butterflies represent our grandparents, who may have passed on but they are always in our thoughts. The journeys they made from México to the U.S. shaped our families and continue to guide the path we walk today.

Gracias de corazón a @diskeuno por dar vida a esta pieza con tanta intención y detalle. Nos sentimos agradecidos por tu arte y por la historia que ahora vive con nosotros. by @chi_los

Long Post: Priceless morning as the Jaramillo crew made our annual trek to Lemont to take on the infamous hills of the Quarryman Challenge. This year was extra special—my Pops joined the fun for the first time ever!

Our good friend @dv3mck has been a part of this tradition with us for several years now, and this time, five of us went in together—and all five placed in the top 3 of our age groups!

Couldn’t be prouder of the whole squad, especially my dad placing 2nd in his age group on his first go! But the highlight of the morning? Without a doubt, my mom @rosie0ne, placing 2nd in her age group.

She’s been running the Quarryman with us for years, and every time she gets a little faster, a little stronger. She used to say, “Sorry your mom is slow—I’ll never be fast like you.” Then it became, “One of these years I’m going to get that rock.”

Well look at you now, Mom—you did it. You got the rock. I’m so proud of you. You’re an inspiration and a hero. Happy (Mexican) Mother’s Day. Te quiero mucho!

Special shoutout to @gyp42k from @nikerunning once again for the Vaporflys— appreciate you.

Tio @ajaramillo98 thanks for taking care of our lil guy, as well as capturing pics and vids for us.

Great to see Guillermo from @3run2 and @littleoljenny - keep it going young buck!

And congrats to @david_arzate03 @endure_01 (PR!) and the @indiosrunningclub on completing their first Quarryman! by @chi_los

Those Lemont hills ain’t no joke! 🏃‍♂️💨

But nothing worth having comes easy.

Huge shoutout to @chi_los for pushing me to new heights today!

The grind on the hills was tough, but it’s all part of the journey.

Training for The Quarryman 5k in Lemont and 13.1 @chidistanceseries has begun– because the only way to grow is to challenge yourself.

Surround yourself with like-minded people who lift you up and push you further than you thought you could go. 🌟

“Running is not just about the miles, it’s about the mindset”

Let’s keep moving forward, one step at a time.

What an amazing dinner experience at @carino_chicago with our fellow foodie friends, @adschnei and @positively_penny❣️Each dish from this intimate tasting menu was thoughtfully put together and bursting with immense flavors. The reservation was made back in January and well worth the wait (they’re booked till May)! My compliments to Chef Fenton and everyone at Cariño. We’ll be back to try to the taco Omakase
