Hot on the launch tail of LUNAR DREAMS’s book of the month pick, the board book of ROCKET SHIP, SOLO TRIP is an Amazon Best of the Year (So Far) for ages 0-2! 🚀🚀🚀

I originally wrote these books for my then 2-year-old, inspired by Little Blue Truck, and Llama Llama, and Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site. To see them transformed into the board book format is a special sort of magic, knowing that caretakers of toddlers can now find them on the shelf in a format perfect for little hands and bedtime reading.

Thanks to the Amazon editors for giving Rocket this extra boost, and kudos to @skortch and all our crew at @penguinkids!

True story: the very first liquid-fueled rocket was launched 100 years ago, on March 16, 1926. 😲 To celebrate 100 years of rocket science, the National Air and Space Museum is hosting a rocket-themed Soar Together Family Day, and @skortch and I will be on-site to join the fun and share our second book in the Rocket Ship Series, ROCKET BEAMS, LUNAR DREAMS. We would love to cross orbital paths with you there!

The family day event takes off on Saturday, March 14, at the Washington, DC, Air and Space location, with rocket-themed activities throughout the museum. Scott and I will share our book in the Futures in Space Gallery at 10:30am, 11:30am, and 1pm, and Scott will also lead us all in a draw-along to create our own space craft following each story time. Books will be available at the museum gift shop, and of course, mission patch stickers and activity sheets will be on deck for all!

So thrilled to take the stage with Scott again at Air and Space—here’s hoping you and your young space explorers can join our crew to make this a truly stellar conjunction! ✨

ROCKET BEAMS’s launch event at @lindentreereads this past weekend was a veritable planet parade of special crew mates, between the young space enthusiasts gathered around for story time, Linden Tree’s stellar staff, and the conjunction of two #kidlit #space authors beaming in the glow of each other’s books!

Dear friend and fellow space author @rienealwriter joined me to help launch Rocket’s second mission, ROCKET BEAMS, LUNAR DREAMS by @skortch and me, with Linden Tree’s community of readers. Thank you, Linden Tree, Rie, and all who joined us!

This just in! Rocket’s lunar launch at Linden Tree Books has been rescheduled for next Sunday, February 23, at 10:30am! Unfortunately, I’ve come down with a cold and don’t want to risk spreading germs to my fellow space explorers as we blast off together. Thank you, @lindentreereads, for inviting me to connect with your readers next week instead!

Next Sunday, we’ll read ROCKET BEAMS, LUNAR DREAMS by @skortch and me, then explore the phases of the Moon together using 2-d and 3-d lunar models. And as always, mission patch stickers for all!

What’s in store for Rocket? Following her first mission in ROCKET SHIP, SOLO TRIP, our brave Rocket’s big wish is coming true: she’s finally heading to the Moon! But she isn’t going alone…and it turns out, she won’t be the one landing on the lunar surface. ROCKET BEAMS, LUNAR DREAMS is a story about disappointment, jealousy, and the strength it takes to forge friendships and find life’s silver linings like the sliver of a waxing crescent moon.
