Saw @paul.damato ‘s beautiful show at the Cultural Center today with Jin and Lynne. The work is magnificent. The prints are *gorgeous* and the images are full of heart and grit and airplanes. Lots of airplanes. You can practically hear them in the gallery. #fineartphotography #chicagophotography taken in Chicago Cultural Center by @chicagometrosphere

This about sums up the reunion with my college roommates last night at @ccadedu taken in Beeler Gallery by @chicagometrosphere

As promised here is the very striking carved tree that took my amazing college roommate 15 years to complete. The carved words are from his great great grandfathers journal written in 1898. He was a farmer and wrote about his daily work with the land. I hope I got that right @bitterdrinksforoldmen ! It’s such a powerful piece. The last photo in the carousel is Kurt, the man himself!- with his parents who have been married 55 years. They live on the farm where this tree grew, where Kurt’s great-grandfather toiled daily. Kurt lives in NYC, he hauled this tree there and carved it little by little in his studio. taken in Beeler Gallery by @chicagometrosphere

Tonight is the first opening I’ve attended since Covid and is celebrating the work of my college roommate whom I had not seen for more than 25 years. Hard to explain the joy in the reunion. I love his paintings and the carved tree which was a 15 year undertaking is a beautiful and meaningful work. I’ll post photos of that separately, but please scroll through this carousel to see his paintings! taken in Beeler Gallery by @chicagometrosphere
