One of our amazing clients @troscan asked us last year if we would be interested in doing a photoshoot at the Farnsworth house. I am pretty sure my response was “do dreams actually come true?” This is a place I think all of us wouldn’t mind being at right now. #farnsworthhouse @deirdre_jordan @robertrobinsonluthier @chicagometrosphere @farnsworthhouse @farnsworthmuseumstore @miesvanderrohe @miessociety #miesvanderrohe

Winifred, like a lot of girls, used to feel weak and lacked confidence. “Wrestling is a way to feel stronger” she advises. Despite warnings from family that this sport is too dangerous for girls, Winnie has become an enthusiastic and successful wrestler, recruiting other girls at Senn to be sure there are enough to form a team. She was the only girl to compete at the IHSA state meet where she placed 2nd in regionals having competed against all boys. Go Winnie! #💪 #wrestlelikeagirl #🤼‍♀️ #confident #strong @chicagometrosphere sharing stories from CPS athletics #publicschool #sport #athlete #thefutureisfemale #sennbulldogs #sennwrestling #highschoolwrestling #cps #cpsathletics #portrait #cpslives #chicagolife

Admittedly not a word person, Akyra says after a long day of quizzes and school stress she is glad to hit the mats each day and “wrestle it out”. Using her athletic ability is often a more effective way for her to express herself. Akyra was recently nominated by graduating senior, Aysha, to take her place as a team captain. Captains are nominated based on the ability to bring leadership and community to the team while representing in the best way for the team and Senn High School. Congratulations, Akyra! #leadership #thefutureisfemale #captain @chicagometrosphere sharing new work for CPS Lives on athletics in CPS #athlete #rolemodel #wrestleitout #swagger #wrestlelikeagirl #girlswrestling #🤼‍♀️ #sport #cps #cpsathletics #wrestling #sennbulldogs #sennhighschool #blackhistorymonth #shareblackstories #chicagostories #chicagoathlete

Senn Head Coach Angela Kus points out that wrestling is both a team sport and a solo sport. You meet an opponent on the mat by yourself, but you go knowing there is a whole family of support standing behind you win, lose or draw. #🤼‍♀️ #wrestlelikeagirl @chicagometrosphere sharing this week from the work I’ve created for CPS Lives. #chicagostories #cpslives #cps #cpsathletics #sennhighschool #sportsphotography #wrestling #athlete #sport #sennbulldogs #girlswrestling #folkstyle #freestyle #publicschool #chicagoathlete

Currently the only Muslim female wrestler in the state of Illinois, Aysha is both really proud to be the first and also disappointed that there aren’t more girls who look like her engaged in this sport. By joining the girls wrestling team at Senn High School she has, in her words, “defeated the stereotype for Muslim women”. When she was first presented with an athletic hijab by Head Coach Angela Kus - an article of clothing she had never previously known of - she burst into tears of joy. #empowered #wrestlelikeagirl #sennbulldogs @chicagometrosphere guest posting my work on athletics for CPS Lives #🤼‍♀️ #girlswrestling #sport #muslimathlete #athletichijab #hijab #femalemuslimathlete #cps #cpsathletics #publicschool #strongyoungwoman #trailblazer #SennHighSchool #highschoolwrestling #chicago #chicagolife #chicagostories #chicagoathlete

For their best friend activity Bernice and Mia chose to join the Senn wrestling team. Led by Head Coach Angela Kus, Senn is the first CPS school to have enough girls wrestling to form a team. Lakeview High School has recently followed suit and now has a girls wrestling team to compete against Senn. This best friend portrait was made at the first meet between two girls wrestling teams in Chicago Public School. @chicagometrosphere posting my work this week on CPS Athletics #wrestlelikeagirl #girlswrestling #🤼‍♀️ #bestfriends #cpslives #cps #wrestling #portrait #sport #chicago #chicagostories #sennhighschool #sennwrestling #sennbulldogs #folkstyle #freestyle #bulldogwrestling #chicago

@chicagometrosphere posting my work for CPSLives this week. I set out to see what role athletics play in the 3rd largest school district with the SECOND largest athletic program in the U.S. Girls water polo is a good example of the kind of variety CPS offers to its students. Head Coach @macvarilla of the Jones/Payton co-op team notices how many of his athletes are transformed through sport, from passive and shy to aggressive and confident with leadership skills in place. And no matter what, Coach says, “the high five at the end of the game will always happen. Even when the team may not feel like touching hands and saying ‘good game’”. #goodsportsmanship #🤽‍♀️ #futureleaders #cpsathletics #cps #sports #girlswaterpolo #teamsports #waterpolo #publicschool #sportsphotography #athlete

Greetings! 👋 @chicagometrosphere taking over the CPS Lives account for the week, sharing photos of athletics in CPS. I began last spring with the Jones/Payton Girls Water Polo team. The first portrait I made for this project- the first capture for the entire project, actually - was of this young student and athlete, Holly. #CPSLives #CPS #CPSathletics #waterpolo #🤽‍♀️ #athletics #sport #chicago #chicagoathlete
