We're empowering young people not just for a moment, but #ForTheLongRun! 🏃🏽‍♀️ Since 2008, Chicago Run has provided the space for joy, possibility, and equitable access to movement, which translates into real, lasting confidence.

Movement is necessary for youth to develop and thrive, but access to safe, structured physical activity isn't equitable across every Chicago community. That's a barrier we are passionately working to remove.

Saturday we fueled. Sunday we ran. Monday we rested. 🍝🏃🏽‍♀️😴

Before hitting the start line, some of our Team Chicago Run charity runners joined us at our office for a pre-race pasta party to carbo-load and finally meet out-of-town athletes face-to-face after months of training.

Connecting in person before the big day kept everyone grounded and excited for the miles ahead. We are so proud of every runner who pushed through the heat for Chicago youth!

We're also huge fans of @Zappos for supplying our runners with @Hoka recovery slides—it's safe to say they came in clutch after a tough day in record-breaking temps. 👟✨

We’re bringing together local young professionals and community supporters who are interested in supporting inclusive youth sports and wellness through our Next Generation Board.

Meet Nancy Ceja.

Nancy took up running as a hobby in 2023 with the goal of staying active and clearing her mind while looking for a new job. She didn’t know that the sport would lead to discovering a new, tight-knit community:

“One of the run clubs that I joined was this very small run club called @lavenderunclub. For two years now, they've been some of my closest friends. We've gone on trips together, we've gone on runs, we bike around the city – we've built this little community of women who appreciate sport, running, and being outside.”

Now she’s working at Sterling Bay, taking on the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with her family, and encouraging the next generation of Chicago youth to find enjoyment in building community through sports.

In it for the long run! This year I am running my first ever Chicago Marathon! I am fundraising for Team Chicago Run! Not only do I coach an amazing group of nearly 40 young runners, but both my girls were a part of this team during their time at James Ward! Chicago Run provides opportunities for youth to be active, grow a love for running, and come together as classmates to share unforgettable experiences! New school year. New coaches. Same levels of excitement as we launch another season of Running Mates! 🏃

Last week we were grateful to see so many new faces in our office joining us for the Running Mates coach training. Meeting all the incredible new coaches and seeing community partners step up for our youth was the exact spark we needed to kick off this season!
