So you’ve got a script. Now what? 🎬

On Thursday 29 October, Screen Presence is sitting down with writer and director Dale Crawford to unpack how his award-winning indie psychological thriller, Lilith, went from a script inspired by real cases of shared family psychosis to a finished film out in the world.

No generic advice, no glossy success story. Just an honest look at the messy, practical reality of independent filmmaking - developing the script, directing on set with DP Rudi Siira and producer Robert Chuter, and what it actually takes to get a feature across the finish line.

Whether you’re in the middle of your own project, studying screen, or just love bold local cinema, come through and bring your questions.

📅 Thursday 29 October
⏰ 7:00-9:30 PM
📍 Chinese Museum, 22 Cohen Place, Melbourne
🎟 $20 entry - tickets via the link in our bio

⛰️ SHANSHUI 山水

Mountains, rivers, plants and trees are more than landscapes to be observed — they shape how we dwell, remember and understand our place in the world.

Bringing together Asian art and cultural artefacts across different periods and materials, SHANSHUI explores nature, movement, memory and transformation, asking how traditions and landscapes continue to grow and change as they travel.

🌿 A journey between mountain and water, homeland and elsewhere, tradition and the present.

📅 30 October – 17 November 2026
📍 Museum of Chinese Australian History
22 Cohen Place, Melbourne VIC 3000

Exclusive tea gatherings, talks and more special events will be held throughout the exhibition.

A heartfelt thank you to the University of Melbourne @umsuunimelb to inviting the Museum of Chinese Australian History to be part of the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations.

It was wonderful to see so many participants enjoy our Ring Toss game. For some, it took a little skill and luck to win a complimentary mooncake, while others impressed us with their knowledge of the Mid-Autumn Festival and its traditions.

We sincerely thank everyone who participated, shared in festivities and helped make the celebration such a memorable occasion.

Congratulations to Yiying Liau, the lucky winner of our Mid-Autumn Festival goodie bag! 🎉🌕🥮

We are grateful for the opportunity to share Chinese Australian culture and traditions with the university community and look forward to more celebrations together.
