are dwarf palmettos native to the texas hill country? i know they are abundant in other places in texas but found a population on the edwards plateau upstream of canyon lake. what do you think? is this more common than I think? also, is this a species we should consider introducing for riparian restoration? @sabgtx taken in Canyon Lake, Texas by @chingosoftrees

this is one of the coolest trees i’ve ever surveyed. a 29.5” bur oak on the #sanmarcos river. it’s kind of rare to see native bur oaks in our area but i’ve seen some along the local rivers. drop a like if you like big trees! taken in San Marcos, Texas by @chingosoftrees

this is without a doubt the most MASSIVE vitex tree i’ve ever seen. easily over 20” DBH. this is located at the historic carl richter house in new braunfels, texas. have you ever seen a vitex this large? i looked it up and the texas state record is 44” DBH! imagine a vitex twice this size! taken in New Braunfels, Texas by @chingosoftrees
