When your dream car turns into a nightmare Part 1 After windowing my block and returning from my deployment, I dropped the GTR off to RD Engineering on 14 June 2021 for a full build – 3.8L billet crank, BL1300x, and Shep Stage 3. A year and a half later of excuses – moving shops, new house, getting sick, new dyno, the machine shop is lagging, etc. The car finally turned over on 6 January 2023. I got the car to do my break in then gave the car back to RD Engineering for dyno tuning. While on the dyno the car kept blowing the oil filter off and dumping oil. Ronnie claimed that he shut the car off before the oil levels got too low. It was later discovered that a relief valve wasn’t cleaned properly and was sticking closed causing oil pressure to build. The valve was replaced and dyno tuning was “finished”, but there was no telling what kind of damage was done to the motor due to the lack of oil. I finally get the GTR back 25 February 2023, the 5th gear in my brand new Shep Stage 3 is scuffed and making a loud whining noise from excessive dyno wear. In addition my parts were thrown in to a plastic bin scratching and damaging all my powder coated parts. My intake manifold and turbo kit looked like it was dropped damaging them. I don’t drive my car much due to getting Sana’s car ready for TX2K23 which was a disappointment due to the way the car performed under the tuning of RD Engineering. 25 March 2023, I go out and do a 60-130 to get some data. After the pull a check engine light comes on and I pull over only to hear my motor making some really terrible noises. I get the car towed home and call Ronnie immediately. 27 March 2023 the car goes back to RD and we discovered it spun a bearing. At this point the motor had less than 1000 miles on it and I needed a new block, oil cooler, bearings, rods, etc. The agreement was that I pay for parts and Ronnie takes care of labor. I tell him that I don’t want the car to sit and I want it fixed ASAP. by @chinkychoy

TLDR - RD Engineering took almost 2 years to build my GTR. I got it back and the motor failed before 1000 miles. Brought the car back to RD Engineering and the car sat for 6 months and was never fixed. Pulled the car in pieces and sent the SECOND long block to another shop for a breakdown and rebuild. Found out the 2nd motor was also a dud. Asked for a partial refund or would seek legal action. Got some of my money back. Part 2… 26 May 2023 I drop off the new block and there’s no progress on the new motor due to the machine shop taking forever with the crank. At the end of July its the same story and I let Ronnie know I want the car completed by the end of August or I am pulling it. 9 September 2023 I pull the car unfinished in a hundred pieces and the NEW long block out of the car. Instead of putting the long block in the car I decide to send it out to a very reputable GTR shop for a complete break down and rebuild and to document their findings. 2 July 2024 the motor gets torn down and I receive a 3 page report and over 100 pictures of things that are wrong with the 2ND BRAND NEW motor to include blasting media in the motor, metal debris, stripped bolts, damaged parts, lack of proper cleaning, and the list goes on. Needless to say the new motor would have failed immediately if installed. 22 July 2024 I contact Ronnie and send him the findings of the 2nd motor. I gave him 30 days to pay me back $30,499.95 for the motor and some parts or I would seek legal action against him. This amount doesn’t include the time my car has been down, labor/parts to fix my car, and damage to my transmission. On 23 August 2024 Ronnie agrees to pay, but is unable to get the money so he requests that we draw out a payment plan and on 28 October 2024 payment is complete and this nightmare is finally over. by @chinkychoy
