yesterday’s adventure: the regular route on the third pillar of dana (5.10a/b)! we accessed the dana plateau via an ellery ridge (5.6) (soloed with the rope and rack on our backs for extra spice) coming to ~2500ft of technical climbing for the day. i’ve wanted to do this one for a while, and this was such a rad way to do it!! taken in Dana Plateau by @chlohuggs

I finished the Arizona Trail!!

800(ish) miles through the entire state from the Mexico border to the Utah border, hiked from March 7 to April 13. This trail certainly didn’t make things easy. So glad I can say I did it. And so glad for every single person I met along the way. The desert is special—I will definitely be back 💓🌵 taken in Stateline Campground (AZ/UT border) by @chlohuggs

Miles 581-707 of trail. This stretch was from Flagstaff to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.(with Grand Canyon pics first cuz omg!!)

It felt like Humphreys was looming over me the entire time. Every time I turned around, I could still see it, day after day, because of how flat it’s been and how prominent that peak is. Having the last 200+ miles be this flat really put the majesty of the Grand Canyon into context, and it felt really special to finally get here. I guess I have been looking forward to it since day 1 of trail, and today is day 37!

This year, the part of the Arizona Trail that goes through the canyon and up to the North Rim is closed from last year’s fires. Most hikers are finishing at the South Rim. I wanted to go down to the river to do as many of the miles as I could. Tomorrow, I will do the last 30 mile stretch of trail to the Utah border and the northern terminus. #azt taken in Grand Canyon National Park by @chlohuggs

Serendipitously teamed up with the inimitable @_sean_________ for this last section from Pine to Flagstaff, miles 458-581. Got more pictures of myself than normal as a consequence. We traded 100+ degree days for sub 30 degree nights as we came up over 7000 feet on the Mogollan Rim. Not too much more to go now… #azt taken in Flagstaff, Arizona by @chlohuggs
