A week or so of dahlia season is left. And what a weird season it’s been in the Midwest.

The bees are still so busy once the sun comes up.

Tulips are arriving by the thousands to be planted in these same beds.

Some of the photos here are from @annebelmontphotography.

I started this season with over 400 new varieties this year and all have been incredible.

My favorite new dahlia this year is RM Dragons Blood from @rivermerlefarm. All of my new intros from Hailey have exceeded my expectations. And I adored Coseytown Rosewood from LeeAnn @coseytownflowers and she was my most requested dahlia this season.

Lucky us to be surrounded by so much beauty and nature.

My first seedling on its 5th or 6th year. I’ve forgotten how long from @floretflower seeds. Choosing Calm Monarch is covered with butterflies and bees all day long. I could have released it but it doesn’t meet any specific dahlia criteria except mine and my local florists.

It’s always the tallest dahlia in the garden with 2 ft stems sometimes. And it’s a dancer in the wind. I adore her twirls and curls which @annebelmontphotography captured perfectly here.

This is me🌸. I’m a lover of nature and not city blocks. I’m a truth teller because I’m a blunt Australian with parents from Wales and New Zealand.
