Used to rhyme. Still do on occasion. With utmost respect to everyone on strike, this occasion is the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop + the 50th anniversary of @brucelee 's passing + the season finale of #WarriorMAX (killer show based on Bruce's writings, which ends every episode with Chinese hip-hop music). They let me rap on the finale again with the homies @jasonchumusic & @lowhiofficial , this time featuring @schoolgirlniuniu brought onboard by @detroitshowtyme . Production by yours truly, built around Reza Safinia & H Scott Salinas' awesome Title Theme.
Warrior Season 3 - now on @streamonmax !

Los Angeles 🎥 & editing: @pseudosleepmachine
Also shot in China & Philadelphia - hope they don't put that arena right by Philly Chinatown #SaveChinatown #NoArenaInChinatown - just look at what happened in DC. Respect to Detroit Chinatown for building up!!

In 2018 the creators of Warrior (a Max Original based on @brucelee 's writings!) were seeking Chinese hip-hop tunes, which inspired us to join forces. IRON MIC CHOPS MUSIC = @detroitshowtyme (CHINA) + @chopsmusic (USA), decades-long hip-hop veterans who'd been wanting to collab. Years later we have 4 albums (China only for now) featuring brilliant Chinese artists spanning generations, genres, & the globe, rooted in Iron Mic's legendary rap battles. One of our favorites is @g_n_syaoyao , heard on episode 305 of Warrior now on @streamonmax - Videos with him & others are in the works! Until then, here's the vid for Never Ashamed of a Brother, his song featured last season in 205. Gratitude to all the #Warriormax folks (esp. @northjersey ) for providing the seed we're sprouting from! #brucelee #asianrapper #嘻哈 #streamonmax #说唱 #chinahiphop #chinesehiphop by @chopsmusic

Since early on, the creative folks behind #WarriorMax brought us super fun, unique opportunities to craft tunes supporting the show's energy & stories. If you go back & listen to Season 1's finale, that's @lowhiofficial singing Little Green Bag (Reservoir Dogs nod!) just before @jasonchumusic & me rapping. Reposting their video for BAG THAT BAO, the song in Season 3's 1st episode:

"BAG THAT BAO Mandarin MV / SUPER honored 2 have this record on the #warriormax season premiere - new episodes out NOW on @streamonmax

Mostly off phone trying to grow musically. Works pretty good but I failed to thank the super talented artists I've been blessed to collab with, from Philly to across the globe. Mentioning as many as i can below. Without you I have mostly empty beats - together we get tunes on #joyridemovie #warriormax (GRATEFUL for WARRIOR!) #platonic #saintxonhulu #americanbornchinese #mayansfx #blindspotting #grownish #papergirls #fakesnetflix #tetrisbeat PBS, NPR, etc. etc... #MountainBrothers 5 Elements on #cruelsummer tonight! See pic of the kids who made that song haha

Big thanks yall @jasonchumusic @lowhiofficial @alanzmusic @detroitshowtyme @therealdrewbreezy @soundoffproductions @jamdadon @iamreecemills @babyblak @kingmiyachi @va_cnote @jenbemusic @saraporritt @katho.de @samanthashen_ @bambudepistola @rockyrivera

CONGRATS @uliang! Playing Aug 25 at @blackstarfest (today thru the 26th, $5 per day of films & panels, many virtual). Ursula's award-winning film DOWN A DARK STAIRWELL about Akai Gurley & ex-NYPD officer Peter Liang is sadly even more relevant in 2020. Last pics are from our pre-pandemic session for the end credits song with @pretty.boi.g @andreworkin @dupreegod @goldinknyc

@uliang is one of a handful of people who changed the trajectory of my life. Her 1st film @9mandoc which @rubenstyn & I scored re-airs TONIGHT at 7/6c (World Channel/America ReFramed) with an IG LIVE 8:40EST featuring stars of the film, then some of the crew. I believe we have to fight to the death like Hunger Games to get a slot, so we'll see how that goes. You can also watch @9mandoc and a bunch more awesome films FREE via the PBS app. Ursula's upcoming 2nd documentary has already gotten great festival reviews. Did a little music for that too, she made me rap against my will @noncompliantfilms and if you got this far in the text I should probably mention that the pic of us with Awkwafina was really just included so a couple of yall might actually read this post taken in Center for Asian American Media by @chopsmusic
