I like food and cityscapes. And music. And some other stuff too.

The world is on fire and so is @colliersworld šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„ Itā€™s always a pleasure to see him play. Great kickoff to the @mcachicago summer jazz series Tuesdays on the Terrace even if we were indoors by @chowbelle
Not only did I leave last night with a very full stomach, but also a very full heart. I was so grateful to have some of my oldest, nearest, and dearest friends share their evening with me to celebrate my birthday. In these times, I think community is more important than ever before. Iā€™m incredibly fortunate to have these wonderful people in my life. As Bad Bunny said, I shouldā€™ve taken more pictures (because we missed capturing @deonbrightlife). But it was great to just be present with everyone as much as I could. šŸ«¶šŸ¾ Props to the homie @bvax for the great disco grooves! by @chowbelle
Last night I got the chance to finally check out @mariscossanpedro with some friends to belatedly celebrate my birthday. I hate that I didnā€™t make it in sooner. Between the ten of us, we got to try a good cross-section of the menu, and literally everything I tried from the drinks to the aguachile to the tuna tostada to the whole fried snapper to the Sonoran octopus dog to the desserts (and so much more unpictured food) was delicious. Fortuitously, there was an actual birthday in the house. James Beard Award-nominated @chef_marcosascencio (and my former coworker from a lifetime ago) was also celebrating his birthday while simultaneously running his omakase menu at the chefā€™s counter. Thanks for the great hospitality and the delightful meal! Canā€™t wait to come back to try more of the dinner menu and check out their brunch! by @chowbelle
Stepped out Friday night with my cousin @sistah.professa to check the opening night of @cantinarosahydepark and already plotting my next visit. From the drinks to the food to the service and the ambianceā€¦ I think @cheferickwilliams has another hit on his hands! by @chowbelle
In a year where Iā€™ve probably attended more concerts than I likely have in any other year of my life, I guess itā€™s fitting to see three concerts full of living legends in the span of six days. First was @usher Monday night at the United Center, followed by @newedition Wednesday night as a part of their residency at the Wynn in Vegas to see my cousin @bigrondevoe do his thing, then concluded with a return to the floor of the UC for the GOAT Stevie Wonder with my parents and @blackflower. To call this past week a whirlwind would be an understatement. But it was totally worth it. Few things in life are better than live music to me, so this might be one of my best weeks ever. Iā€™m grateful for the opportunities. Iā€™ll also try to share some more of the concerts from earlier this year at some point too. šŸ«¶šŸ¾ by @chowbelle
Super grateful to have spent some time this Motherā€™s Day with all these wonderful women who have helped mold me into the woman I am today. Even more thankful to have helped celebrate one of my grandmotherā€™s 100th birthday last month with so many of our family members and extended families. (Props to @jeffreypaschal for the pics!) Iā€™m grateful to have the love, guidance, and support of so many amazing mother figures, including these incredible women pictured here with me. If I can be half as awesome as they are, Iā€™ll be doing alright in life! Happy Motherā€™s Day šŸ«¶šŸ¾ by @chowbelle
2 J(e)anelles, a Mae, and a RenĆ©e. IG stole my original caption for reasons unknown, but you can read it if weā€™re Facebook friends. But tl;dr? If the total eclipse was a sport, I feel like we won the natty. Sometimes itā€™s really awesome meeting your heroes! by @chowbelle
Started a new job today and they needed a headshot to share with the organization, so I had my mom snap this for me. Happy Monday, yā€™all. Cheers to new beginnings! by @chowbelle
Finally got my hands on some of my cousin @vinenoirā€™s @responsiblehedonistwines for a birthday present to myself. And my mom bought me this @faithringgold coffee table book at the museum yesterday. Who wants to have a glass with me? #buyfromablackwoman by @chowbelle
As for birthday eats so far, I enjoyed my brunch at @dawnchicago with my cousins. Special shoutout to @lilrumsoak for the delightful kumquat gin gimlet he made just for me. Iā€™m looking forward to diving deeper into their menu in the coming months. I wish Iā€™d taken pictures of the appetizers, because they were delicious! And tonight after the museum we worked up a good appetite. Again, I was too hungry to remember to take pictures of the appetizers, but @jadecourt_hydepark never disappoints. Iā€™m trying to squeeze in as many meals as I can before they close at the end of the month. The mai tai was a perfect accompaniment to the spicy chili fish. Definitely gonna miss them when theyā€™re gone. šŸ˜© Letā€™s see what other tastiness birthday season holdsā€¦ šŸ¤” by @chowbelle
This is 42. Kicked off my Jackie Robinson year with a visit to the MCA to see the last day of the @faithringgold exhibit with the wonderful woman who brought me into this world, my mom. We got there just as they were leading a public tour of the show, which I had to indulge in, because ya girl loves all the context I can get in general, but especially with art like this. From everything I saw, I have a feeling that hanging out with Faith and getting to hear her stories would be worthwhile. And I had some lovely conversations with fellow art lovers in the space too. Canā€™t think of a much better way to spend my 42nd birthday tbh. by @chowbelle
Many thanks to the awesome team at @intlanthem for bringing Carlos NiƱo and some of his friends out to Bronzevilleā€™s @parkway.social tonight for a listening party and a little jam session. It was a great way for this single gal to spend Valentineā€™s Day. šŸ«¶šŸ¾ by @chowbelle
