This isn’t a post I planned, It’s one I owe
Some losses change your schedule. Others change your name

In one year, I said goodbye to my parents who made my life possible.

I didn’t come to them by blood. Not even by choice.
Bishop Reginald T. Jackson and Supervisor Christy Davis Jackson, Esq. opened their lives to me and made me their son fully, permanently, without conditions.

They showed love in ordinary ways that turn out to be everything. Keys handed over with trust. Boxes carried into new homes.
Seats saved at the table every holiday.
Assistants even became family.
A family that grew around me until I forgot there was ever a time I didn’t belong.

I learned what commitment looks like by watching them live it.
And when their season of needing came, I stayed because that’s what they taught me.

Grief doesn’t come from loss alone.
It comes from having been loved well.

Thank you for the life you built around me.
Thank you for my brother, Seth, and my sister, Regina.
Thank you for making me yours.

What you gave me didn’t end with you.
