You remember Teen Summit on @bet ? Well I was on it! Thanks to me being a part of Dads Do Make a Difference. My mentor Lisa Nkonoki convinced me I could get custody as a father. I’m not going to lie I didn’t believe her, but I trusted her. I was a sophomore in college operating off faith and a support system.

I knew this day would come, but it still hurts like hell.

On Sunday at 4:13 PM, my dad passed away after a short but fierce battle with cancer. Bobby Carl Bellamy lived many lives and touched many people along the way.

Depending on when you met him, you may have known him as Bobby, OG, Curtis, Vonceal, or one of the many other names he answered to over the years. No matter what you called him, if you knew him, you know he was truly one of a kind. We’re going to celebrate all of those chapters, all of those stories, and most importantly, the man behind them, on Tuesday, September 8th, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Quartette Club in New Britain, CT.

Whether you knew him for decades or only crossed paths with him briefly, we’d love for you to come by, share a memory, tell a story, and help us celebrate a life that left its mark on so many people. If you can’t make it, please drop your favorite memory, quote, or photo of him in the comments. Reading those stories will mean the world to our family.

And if you knew my dad, you know there was nothing he loved more than grilling, feeding people, and bringing folks together. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

A few years ago I asked Chase if he was ready to cut his hair? He was beginning to look like a 4yo Bizzy Bone, if Bone Thugs had a docuseries.

Before he could answer I referenced how good our neighbors hair looked short since they’re really good friends. His response was “Daddy I don’t want to look like anyone else!”

I was so damn proud that I vowed to never ask him to cut it. With Summer camp approaching Chase decided he was ready to swim without worrying about his hair.

He google haircuts and once he found the one he liked, off to the barbershop we went and Blowout Chase arrived. by @chrisbellamy34
