It’s going to take a little bit for this to sink in, and Team Purple still has a little sign clean up left to do, but I couldn’t go to bed without saying thank you.

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who took the time these last 14 days to exercise their civic duty. It’s because of you that our city continues to strive towards being a(n) even better place to live—for everyone.

Secondly, thank you to everyone who chose to mark an X beside my name. I am beyond honoured to have gained your trust throughout this campaign. Your support is the reason I can continue my journey in public service as one of four new Airdrie City Councillors. I plan to make good on the promises I have made, including remaining accessible and a neutral-but-active-listener to every resident, regardless of how you voted.

I am blown away by the messages, calls, donations, hugs, and countless volunteer hours some of you have invested in me and this campaign, and I have a few thank yous to get through.

Thank you to my Campaign Manager and wife, Kim. Without you by my side, I would be a ball lost in tall grass. Thank you for being my North Star, and guiding me through the tough times of this race.

To my children: Maliyah, Linky, and Rhi Rhi; thank you for understanding the commitments that came with this campaign run, and for always cheering me on in the down moments. I’ve missed you every second I have been away, and I am so glad my schedule can return to its regular predictability and craziness.

Another new chapter begins for the Glass kids as they move onto a new daycare and into new school programs! 🎉

And in a just a few short hours, Maliyah will make her first ‘footprints’ into Kindergarten, and we’ll open a new chapter as school parents. As we watched her explore her new classroom and meet new friends on orientation night, even I got the back to school jitters. 📚

Thankfully, her new teacher was equipped with ‘jitter glitter’ for Maliyah to put under her pillow the night before school, and comforting words for a new year. 💜

More photos and probably more tears from me to come, for her first big day tomorrow! by @chrisglasshalffull
