In one of Henry‘s last game for Crystal Palace Academy, we were home to Arsenal, who he loved playing against.

They won 6-3, and Henry scored two goals, including this screamer.

Happy memories. 🦅 by @chrishyland_official

12 years ago today my life changed forever.

Henry arrived into the world not breathing.

A few minutes later he was in my arms, alive and kicking.

Right then I knew this kid was a little fighter.

When you become a father something shifts that you cannot prepare for.

Everything you thought you wanted suddenly means something different.

The future stops being about you.

It becomes about them.

I remember Covid hitting in 2020 and for the first time in years everything stopped.

And all I wanted was to be at home.

Just being a dad.

Just him and his sister.

That realisation changed me more than any business success ever has.

This year Henry has been through two of the biggest things that can happen in a young life.

Being released by Crystal Palace at 11 years old.

Watching his parents separate and leave the family home.

I won’t pretend either of those things has been easy for him.

They haven’t.

But as he turns 12 today, do you know what he is?

Quietly confident.

Polite.

Articulate.

A young man I am prouder of than I have words for. 🥹

Being a dad is also about treading a fine line.

I want to be his best buddy.

But I also need to be his dad.

And that means preparing him for a world that will not always be kind.

I think life has already started doing that for him.

And he is handling it better than most adults I know.

Happy birthday Henners!

This one is for you. ❤️ by @chrishyland_official

The beginning of a new journey in the ENG league with @skillzoneuk

Great debut today for Henry, 2-1 down against a good team and he scored two and got an assist to win 4-2 and get through the first round of the cup. @engsportsevents
