POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

These 2 video art pieces that I created (SCREAMING on the left and DEPRESSIONS OF THE MIND on the right) are separated by 14 years, but they’re very much connected. Watching them now, they trigger memories of exactly who and where, I was.

Now they live on a bookshelf (and online!) in looping-forever-form via @infiniteobjects

This is Jonny and David and The Rogue Helicopter Pilot.
It’s 4 minutes long.
Please turn the SOUND ON (and UP!)

After a successful run playing as part of a handful of museum and gallery group exhibitions around the world, I’m sharing it on the web for the first time. (Ideally it lives in a 3-screen setting, but here it is all in 1 for your viewing pleasure!)

I wanted to remake an ‘early viral video’ that I couldn’t stop watching years ago; a YouTube video of David Thompson’s fiery rant during the community forum portion of a Charlotte City Council meeting on January 28, 2002. So, I did — with some wildly talented actors/friends JONNY MARS and BLAKE DeLONG and a tag-team of editing superstars HAI-LI KONG & DANIEL TARR.

I made this infinitely-looping-video art piece awhile back. I was inspired after watching Chantal Akerman’s short film “La Chambre / The Room” (go check it out, if you haven’t seen it, it’s one of her early works and I find it enthralling!). I wanted to make something of my own, in one hotel room, all at once. That sorta happened...

This is where it happened. Right here. In this room.

I missed it by a couple of days, but happy belated birthday @aaronmvega !!! We met just about this time of year, 31+ years ago 🙌. So many pictures long before cell phones — so those’ll have to stay in the old photo albums. But here’s a few I have, “safe for work”
