It’s my birthday and the perfect day to put this little piece out into the world. If you know me, then you know that I am infinitely curious and love questions.

So we are kicking it back to some good-ole 90’s nostalgia with Better on Paper, a grown-up iteration of the slam book.

100 questions, anyone can play. The perfect thing to leave open on your coffee table, take with you on your next road trip or get-together.

Hardcover and softcover available. Link in bio to purchase. by @christabaca

For years I thought these moments were what happened while I worked toward the life I wanted.

Now I realize they were the life I wanted.

The good stuff rarely arrives all at once.

We have a friendship that words don’t do justice. But on birthdays we try!!! Happy birthday to @lindseyeryn , my wild, free-spirit, glimmer of light in a dim world, my kindred-spirit, best friend.

Thank God for you.

Where would I be without you by my side? Through thick and thin, good days and bad, you are always by my side. Thank you for who you are.

Fearless.
Loyal.
Joyful.
Creative.

I think these past few years, through the tests that life has thrown at us, we have really learned what it means to be there for each other. (To make lemons into a lemon party) The Bible says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends,” and like we always say, “Your mess is mine.” Through the “le sighs” of life, we have pushed each other to climb mountains that others only gaze up at. We have encouraged each other. You have listened *on repeat* (and thank God, with only love and no judgment) to me on the good days and bad days.

I pray that this year you are abounding in blessing, courage, strength. That God opens up the windows of Heaven to you. I pray that you have a great reward for all the work that you have done!!! I just love you and can’t wait to see you soon!!!!! by @christabaca

2016, Ecuador was home.
Days were spent teaching at our nonprofit @go_international at our school @submerge.tv creating everything from public art campaigns to programs for Quito’s trafficked kids. Those were the days of one uio and justice tours.
We lived through one of the largest earthquakes in the world that year. I learned the ropes of being a mom of two kids and it was where my love of cooking first began.

Most days don’t feel like breakthroughs.

They feel like “most days.”

Boring.
Repetitive.
Minimum dopamine hits.

I mean, who wants to do the same thing, over and over, with minimum applause?

I literally texted @lindseyeryn today complaining about this. Immediately my phone rings— because she is not going to let me off the hook and quit.

And she said it…
You have to keep being consistent.
Even when it’s totally boring.

Because when we write ourselves a permission slip to quit when things get mundane we will never experience the inner growth we long for.

Character work goes first.
Most people chase motivation.
But we all know motivation wanes over time like the air in a helium balloon bought at the dollar tree.

Take a deep sigh.
And then ask yourself the same question I did. “What if this time I didn’t quit?”✨💫 by @christabaca

There’s only one way that I know of to silence the doubts in your head.

Take action.

Fear doesn’t disappear the more you “think” about it. (Yes, planning has its place.) Planning alone won’t eradicate the problem the same way that action will.

If you’ve been holding fear in one hand and wondering why it’s so hard to move forward, consider this your invitation to try a new approach.

Take the hand of joy.
Take the hand of courage.
Take the hand of the Lord and trust that He will lead you through everything you have to navigate. ✨💫 by @christabaca

it’s time to fall in love with your life again.
It’s time to adventure.
It’s time to find something to look forward to.
time to quit finding excuses for why you can’t or your shouldn’t.
because you’re the ONLY one in charge of making your life a grand adventure.

there’s a reason why they call it LIFE. It’s for living…and you aren’t dead yet. ✨ by @christabaca

One of the best thing about having a best friend is getting to know their family. @signedwithheart and I sat down the other day at one of my favorite places @wildforktulsa to catch up. If you have ever wanted to learn finger spelling you have to purchase her course.

At one point she leaned across the table and typed out a note that said, “ Have you ever thought about creating a reflective journal?” To which I opened my purse and pulled out the manuscript of my latest project– a 365 page journal with all kinds of “big questions” in it. She told me, “ I can see this being sold in Target.”

To which I laughed.

I told her, “ I need to borrow some of your courage.”

To which she replied, “Why is it that we can see what is possible for someone, but have such a hard time believing it is possible for ourselves?”

And why is that SO TRUE!????

Honestly, there’s so much more inside of us– if we had the courage to just believe!!!

So, here are a few questions I have been asking myself lately and I would love to hear your answers or thoughts on them. Feel free to shoot me a DM or comment below.

And consider this your sign to borrow courage from a friend if you need it!

Your dreams are possible!! 🦋✨ by @christabaca
