Checking in with the #writingaccountabilitychallenge with @authors_abc_ink This week I hit a major milestone! 100 pages in Google Docs for my WIP! You know what that means? Week 4 of #writingaccountabilitychallenge with @authors_abc_ink . It was a quiet week for me, writing-wise. Things have been really busy at my job, so I have been less inclined to write. Still got some done! My biggest "progress" was making mock-ups of a bunch of my dragons in Spore. Yes, Spore. The creature creator game from 2009, that Spore. I have made my grand debut to AO3! The fic gives two of my characters a simple task: teach a bunch of dragon children how to play D&D. Turns out, it is not that simple! Fun fact about me: I never wrote fanfic. It just wasn't part of my personal creative journey. I had a tough enough time wrangling my own characters to worry about anyone else's! So why, at today years old, did I suddenly wake up and decide "I think I'll write fanfic today"? The answer is I just loved "Wings of Fire" that much! So I did. This fic was originally posted in the Wings of Fire fangroup on Facebook. Oryn is one of my original dragons. He's a cave dragon, which is a classic fairy-tale dragon. In WoF terms, he would be a WildWing. Some cave dragons have NightWing-esque powers, but Oryn does not. He's just a normal guy. (And a DM.) Jeri is a human botanist and tabletop player. She appears in my second book (current WIP). You get to meet her a bit early here. Chapters are bite-sized and I'll be posting one a week. My progress for the week in @authors_abc_ink 's Writing Accountability Challenge. I am not super strict about wordcount goals. As long as I keep writing, I call that a win. That's why you see my wordcount fluctuate pretty violently from week to week. And besides, I don't keep super close track. (Reminder 1 kitten = 100 words.) I did finish and post my stupid fanfic to AO3! If you want to check it out, it's called "Dungeons & Dragonets" by SilvertheDragonAuntie. Week 2 of accountability challenge Wednesdays with @authors_abc_ink Managed to have a productive week, despite sleeping poorly and waking up on Saturday with a migraine! I even finished a stupid cross-over fanfic I've been working on for awhile. I never wrote fanfic. It just wasn't part of my creative journey. I had enough trouble wrangling my own characters to worry about anyone else's. So why did I, at age 42, decide to write a fic where a couple of my characters teach the "Wings of Fire" dragonets how to play D&D? Couldn't tell you! But that's what I did. I'll be making my grand debut onto AO3 with it this weekend! I even founded it's "fandom" on AO3. #writingaccountabilitychallenge #writerchallenge, #writersofinstagram #amwriting Writing Accountability Challenge.
