Making a test pattern on our new guilloche machine. This is a micro pattern that can be used in the sub second on our watch dial, the waves are 1mm long. The pattern is made by combining two straight line pattern at an angle to each other. This creates optical interference between the two sets of lines, which we will see as a new complex pattern.  .

In 2023, we were fortunate to acquire this remarkable guilloche machine.
.
The Kämpf A3 Supra is a highly specialized machine used to create intricate guilloche patterns—fine, interlacing geometric designs traditionally found on banknotes, passports, certificates, and other security documents. Renowned for its precision, it enables the creation of exceptionally detailed ornamental engraving that is both beautiful and extremely difficult to replicate.

This particular machine was previously used by Eschede Security Printing in the Netherlands and later by Komori Security Printing in Japan..
.
Although the machine was operational when we acquired it, restoring it to the standard required for fine watchmaking was a significant undertaking. We replaced more than 50 bearings and manufactured several new components to replace worn parts. Many hours were spent adjusting and regulating the mechanism to restore the level of precision for which these machines are known.
.
Today we used the machine for making some the fine finishing details on the 30CT Tourbillon movement.

This is the epitome of a wonderful wristwatch.

It is april 2026, and this is early in the year, but - there will not be anything better than the CT30.
.
This is the most beautiful watch i saw since years and years. This is it.
.
Christian Lass, one-minute-tourbillon, 30CT, Prototype, hours, minutes, small seconds, 18.000 A/h, rose-gold case, hand engraved dial. Limited edition.
.
The watchmaking couple is Hannelore (hand engraver) and Christian Lass (watchmaker) from Danmark.
.
The movement and the tourbillon design of the new watch 30CT is absolutely amazing.

Here is one of the latest 30CP’s with a special roman number dial and rose gold case. Swipe 👉 to see the case making process.
The dial was specially designed by @gravalance for @take_ftkt18.
In collaboration with the Shellman team @dear_watch_lover.

All our cases are produced here in our workshop in Denmark and have our makerstamp ATL ( ATelier Lass). They are in 18Kt/750 gold with soldered lugs.
It’s a very long job to make them, but its very satisfactory when it’s all put together in the end. by @christian_lass

Here is a little "summary" of the process if you'd like to see how this dial for our 30CP was made. The whole work, testing and sketching and making the final dial, and of course also the watch as a whole, was spread over many weeks.
But well, the max length of a reel is 3min;)
