Time flies too fast! I want to say a belated huge thank you to all the participants of the engraving class in september at Gitte Bjørns goldsmithing school in Copenhagen! (@gittebjorn /@smykkekurser)

We had a great week, it's a real pleasure to spend time with passionate people and digging into hand push engraving and everything that goes with it! Amazed again by how far you all got in that short time! Hope you all gonna keep cutting!⚒️🙌😉

Day 3 of The Engrave In International ✨

The third day — surely that must mean the first two days were hard to beat? Not at all! 😄

After the inspiring workshop at the museum the day before, everyone got busy designing and creating their own engravings. Once again, the workshops were buzzing with activity: engraving the inside of rings by Joacim @handgravyr.se , gold inlay by Hannelore @gravalance , printmaking by Marcel Blok, stone setting by Frederick @frederickbierbaum and sharpening gravers for jewellery engraving by Jacqueline @khn_jacquelinejimmink .

Everyone found their own way between attending workshops, experimenting with hammer and chisel engraving, and trying out the AirGraver and pulse gravers. Meanwhile, the etching press was already producing its first beautiful prints on paper.

And then, late in the afternoon, it was time for the impressive raffle! 🎟️ With more than 30 prizes up for grabs, there was an incredible selection of wonderful prizes to be won donate by locals and internationals.

After that, it was a quick dash to the Big Surprise Dinner at Strandpaviljoen Paal 12, where a delicious barbecue and a wonderful selection of salads were waiting for us. Unfortunately, due to the stormy weather, we couldn’t light the fire — but that certainly didn’t dampen the atmosphere! 🌬️🔥🌊🔥

Another fantastic day filled with creativity, craftsmanship, learning, laughter and, above all, great company. ❤️

And this was only Day 3…! 👀

In case you ever wondered about the "Micro Block XL" from @grstools :-) Here you go for a few pictures to get an idea of the sizing.
I hesitated a while but now I needed something bigger than the normal Micro Block to work at home from my second bench more often. And I have to say, I honestly love it. It is a really good compromise between the Micro Block and the Standard Block. It's about almost 1,5kg heavier than the smaller model and therefore more stable and doesn't move around on the table so easily.
To compare->
Micro Block: 1,8kg/80mm diam./50mm opening
Micro Block XL: 3,1kg/100mm diam./70mm opening
Standard Block: 8,6kg/130mm diam./76mm opening
These are not cheap as you will know if you ever looked into them. But I've had my standard block since about 18yrs and the micro block since 20yrs and they still work excellently well👌
This post is not anyhow endorsed by GRS but they simply do make good tools. (Got my one through @aktivguld because one cannot order directly from the States, thanks!) And since I looked at all kinds of pages and videos about them being compared before finally deciding, maybe this can help anyone🤗
It feels right also, to buy again from a company which did much for the development of tools in hand engraving, instead of using Aliexpress or something. I know its a question of bugdet of course, and there are lots of other ones that work very well, too! But what you get here is a piece for life.
Also, this will be cool for any future engraving courses so participants can test them and compare them in real.

Here's a little impression from last week's engraving class @euc_lillebaelt ⚒️🤗
(this is usually once a year in october) Thanks so much to everyone for coming! It was a great pleasure to meet you all and spend some time together making tools, practising and learning about handengraving! I am amazed every time again how far students come within just one week, and this time was no exception💪⚒️🙌!
Now all there is left to do is "keep on cutting" 😉 And huge thanks also to the goldsmithing teachers Maria and Camilla!

Throwback friday🙂🙃 A bit more than 5 years ago I made this tiny version of H.C. Andersen over a period of two months in the evenings. This is a condensed overview of the step by step process (it took me 70 hours to do, and proved me wrong from thinking originally "smaller must be faster"😂) Having been a test in the beginning of how small a likeness could be made, to thinking of a jewellery project including a tiny loupe or something, it turned out to just be my best "advertisement piece" so far😅
Although it was a kind of desperation project idea in the beginning of covid times, in order to get to focus on something totally different at least in the evenings, I am very glad today that I did it :-) Love the reactions of people eyeing it through the microscope in our workshop!
