I tried to write a “polished” caption for this and then laughed—because this year was feral. Hard and beautiful and absolutely none of anyone’s business.

But I’m a sharer, so here we go.

This year dragged me, shaped me, cracked me open. I found myself working in home performance EE, standing in front of one of the seven wonders of the world in Mexico, and spending two months unhoused—while also being lucky enough to land back in my childhood home. I negotiated my salary for the first time, earned my 200-hour yoga teacher training cert, and got handed an autoimmune diagnosis that forced me to listen whether I wanted to or not and brought me to my knees.

I moved into a cute cobblestone town, totaled my car and touched the motherland 🇩🇴. My student loans are still here; but, I’m gaining on them! I screamed from the stands for my brother’s senior football season. I speak Spanish 5–7 days a week and feel more confidently bilingual than I have since childhood.

It’s easy to forget how rich life already is—especially when you’re busy surviving it.

Yesterday, our family lost its patriarch, and with his passing, we lost a truly remarkable man. To many of us, Tio Fuche was our favorite uncle.

His presence, everything that he stood for, and the love he poured into us will never be matched. The way Tio loved his family made each of us feel like his favorite person.

I wish we had more time. 🤍

Rest in the sweetest paradise, I know they had the band queued up to greet you.

We are all going to miss you on the sax.🎷
