The Off Shelf collection is a tableware series designed specifically for Chef @luis.zuzarte at @l.appart.lausanne. The project explores the reuse of standard 316L stainless steel components, originally intended for the food industry. Through minimal interventions, including cutting, sanding, and welding, these industrial components are transformed into table objects: plates, bowls, butterdose, milk jugs. The result is a family of objects that is both raw and refined, introducing industrial codes into a gastronomic context.

‎I created this kitchen for my space. It was produced with a metalworker friend from my village who works exclusively with stainless steel for local cheese producers.
The countertop includes a small raised edge to prevent liquids from spilling onto the wooden floor.
Conceived more as a piece of furniture, the structure allows for modularity and brings lightness, while introducing a design language that brings industrial stainless steel into a domestic environment.

The house where I grew up, located in the Swiss Jura, was built in 1840 and originally served as a farmhouse and guesthouse. At the time, it consisted of a multitude of small, dark, partitioned rooms. In 2020, during the COVID period, I undertook, with the help of my brothers, to transform it into two apartments.
I intended to open up the spaces to let in light and allow it to circulate throughout the day.
The numerous differences in levels now define the space.
The floor has become a central element, extending into seating areas and storage spaces. Solid Douglas fir from the Black Forest was used. Its wide 30 cm planks were used to create the stair treads, the bed, drawers, and even the floor. This wood has a warm, rosy hue that contributes to the atmosphere of the place. Each opening to the outside is unique, created over time and through use. The thick walls form deep window sills, made from light-colored limestone from the region. The walls themselves have been treated with lime, delicately smoothed to give them a slight grain that catches the light and creates subtle vibrations. ⠀

When design meets efficiency.

In the search for ways to reduce energy consumption, curtains play a crucial role. The Augmented Curtain uses the same principle as building insulation – trapping air in small pockets – to create an energy-efficient indoor environment by reducing heat loss from drafts, thermal bridges, and windows.

Augmented Curtain by Christophe Guberan and Camille Blin.

The Augmented Curtain exploits the possibilities of 3D weaving techniques by using the yarns from Reflect, a textile made from recycled polyester, to create lightweight curtains. These curtains consist of small tubes that trap air, forming an insulating barrier between the window and the room. The 3D-woven fabric has three different yarn axes arranged in orthogonal directions, with a third yarn bolstering the fabric’s through-thickness direction. This creates empty pockets within the fabric, allowing the curtain to passively trap air.
