Remember September Update

During September a friend on tiktok had suggested I go to Padley Gorge for one of my walks. I had already been there on my first walk with my friend Dave, but I didn't feel I'd made a video which would really do it justice...

So I went back today and squeezed every bit of power out of my phone to capture some video. What a wonderful place it is.

What's more I walked another 8.5km as I carried on walking to Hathersage.

It gives me the opportunity too to let you know that thanks to all those who donated we were able to send £1508.99 to Pancreatic Cancer UK. The nationwide campaign raised a wonderful £626,415.

Pancreatic Cancer UK are now looking for people to undertake their next challenge walking 70 miles in November, if anyone fancies it!

Remember September
Day 29

So yes, it's the penultimate day of Remember September Campaign. It was lovely to catch up with my sister, Jess, and brother-in-law, Dave, at Holmebrook Valley Park in Chesterfield. We chatted about our dear brother, John, of course and the battle he's going through, and the dear friends who have supported us too. Through that support you have helped us raise more than £2300 for research into early testing for Pancreatic Cancer.
And it's not too late to help us raise even more, just click the link in my bio and that will take you through to the fundraising portal.
One more day to go!

Day 28

Another 5km through the woods today. I was focusing on plants and mushrooms again as I find them both fascinating.

Very delighted to see a big clump of Hen Of The Woods pictured at the end of this video.

I'm off to meet my dear sister tomorrow.

She's also doing this challenge so it'll be good to have her and her husband's company for our 29th day.

We're meeting in Chesterfield so we'll see what we find!

Just three more walking days to go in September.
Yes I've walked 114 miles so far, 182 km plus today's.

Day 26

My usual walk to work today - and there was a definite nip in the air. Apart from the changing season there was not much remarkable to video, but lovely a catch a moment with a grey wagtail on the Sheaf. They love going from pebble to pebble in search of crustaceans and insects for breakfast. While the crows on London Road seem to prefer people's left over chips and burgers.

Day 25

It's good to catch up with old friends. Neil has been a great help in my writing, he's wonderfully supportive and gently critical when needs arise. A writer himself, he was telling me about his time in Mombasa, writing weekly fishing reports for the local area, Mwatapa... full of local characters and humour, they were local reports online but he had readers all over the world!

Just five more days of this challenge. Donations have rather slowed down now that I've bullied all my friends and family! Thank you to all who have donated and supported me. I'm looking forward to Tuesday when I will be doing a final walk with my sister who is also doing the Remember September Campaign!
