I’m working on a series. Have you been in something you had no business being in?

rulebook is a series about two exes trying to figure out if you can really stay friends after love, so they create a set of rules to keep their relationship from getting complicated again.

This is my first endeavor into screenwriting and directing and the beginning of a world I’ve been waiting to share.

The last month has been hell.

And I don’t say that for sympathy. I say it because sometimes telling the truth about where you are is the only way to honor the strength it took to survive it.

Loss after loss.
Failure after failure.
My car was broken into.
Things happening with my house.
Business. Money. Relationships. Plans falling apart. Doors closing. Disappointment coming from places I never expected it to come from.

Every time I thought I could catch my breath, something else happened.

And I’m not going to dress it up with some pretty inspirational quote and pretend I handled every moment like some pillar of strength.

I didn’t.

There were moments I was angry.
Moments I was confused.
Moments I questioned myself.
Moments I questioned God.
Moments where I wondered if everything I had built, everything I had sacrificed for, everything I had poured myself into even mattered.

It felt spiritual.

Like something wasn’t just attacking what I had… it was attacking who I was.

My confidence.
My peace.
My creativity.
My faith.
My desire to keep fighting.

And if I’m completely transparent, there were moments I really felt like giving up.

Not the dramatic kind of giving up people post about.

I mean that quiet kind.

Where you’re still answering the phone. Still showing up. Still handling business. Still smiling when you need to smile. Still being there for everybody else…

but somewhere inside, you’re exhausted.

Tired of rebuilding.
Tired of figuring it out.
Tired of being strong.
Tired of taking another hit and finding another lesson in it.

Sometimes you don’t need another lesson.

Sometimes you just want the storm to stop.

But somewhere in the middle of all of this, I remembered something about myself:

I have roots.
