We don’t see many requests for irrigation ports, so we’re curious. What’s holding them back?

Here’s an example of a case using green irrigation ports. From our perspective, they can be a simple way to provide access for irrigation while maintaining a clean, organized setup.

One important detail to keep in mind. Don’t drill into the fixation ports!

We’d love to hear from clinicians. Are irrigation ports something you regularly use, or is there a reason you tend to leave them out?

Quoris3D Top Tip 👉 Getting Your Dual Scan Right First Time🤌

Two issues we regularly see with dual-scan submissions are incomplete relining and movement of the scanning appliance during the scan.

1⃣ Incomplete relining
The denture has only been partially relined, creating large air gaps and preventing it from being fully seated against the soft tissue.

2⃣ Movement during scanning
The scanning appliance has been captured in an open-bite position and has dropped away from the soft tissue, resulting in inaccurate scan data.
In both situations, the data is compromised and planning cannot progress.

Before scanning, ensure the denture is fully relined, completely seated against the soft tissue and maintained in the correct position throughout the scan.

Getting the records right first time helps avoid repeat scans and unnecessary delays to planning.

🦷 BITES: does opening 1mm in the back really give you 3mm in the front?

We were all taught the 1:3 anterior-posterior relationship. It becomes a real hang-up when a case needs a lot of opening.

📚 But reviewing studies from the last decade, 1:1.4 to 1:1.8 shows up far more often. That changes the math. More posterior opening, less anterior effect.

On our end, we've long held to "4mm max opening without calling the doctor" on the Rx, and we open on a Stratos articulator during case analysis. It works, and we're printing models anyway. 🖨️

Today's case gave us four bites on the same patient:
🔹 CO (IOS)
🔹 CR (dots on chin and nose, then IOS to leaf gauge)
🔹 Stratos 100
🔹 RealGuide simulated (manual rotation, see image)
📊 The vertical relationship landed almost exactly where the recent studies put it. The lateral shifts were different across all four, which is less surprising but worth seeing side by side.

A micro post on something that could fill a book. Still, 1:3 may hold for some patients, but the current literature doesn't back it as a rule. 🤔

FP1 Natural GuidedSMILE

FP1 is definitely a topic of conversation right now. We’re receiving GuidedSMILE™ Natural cases every day, and unfortunately, 7 out of 10 do not qualify for immediate load due to factors such as bone defects/anatomy, tooth position, high perio, or excessive necessary bone augmentation.
Still, we want to help with more FP1 cases.

FP1 is a major talking point in full arch dentistry right now💪

In September, we delivered our first Getting Started with GuidedSMILE Natural course at The L.S. Browne Centre, bringing clinicians together for two days focused on the clinical considerations and workflow behind FP1 treatment.

From case assessment and restoratively led planning to hands-on learning and live FP1 surgery, the course provided a practical introduction to GuidedSMILE Natural and the steps involved in planning and delivering suitable FP1 cases.

Great to have Dr James Oliphant among the clinicians joining us for our first dedicated FP1 course.
