My account has been growing much faster than I ever dreamed it could, so I figured it was probably time to actually introduce myself!

I created my page to make relatable content for others like me, struggling with mental or physical health as a young adult. I also joined this community to build connections in a world that can be isolating for others like us <3

Anybody else ever leave doctor’s appointments feeling like the other person in the room had a completely different conversation than you did..?

Sometimes you can explain it exactly how you’re supposed to. In the past, I’ve even brought detailed symptom logs, but there will always be providers out there who rely far too much on your appearance and lab work. Symptoms wind up being an afterthought at appointments, even though experiencing them is far from an afterthought in daily life.

It sounds obvious, but doctors seem to forget that nobody aspires to be sick. I would give anything to be capable of what I once was and be able to live a full day without exhaustion or pain.

I wish I could turn off whatever little translation device they put on the second someone below the age of 30 shows up.

I used to collect these symptoms one by one without realizing they were connected.

A fast heart rate from just standing up. Random flushing. Dizziness that would hit out of nowhere. Feeling overheated when everyone else was fine. I thought it was just my anxiety.

It wasn’t until later that I understood there was a pattern underneath all of it.

If you have POTS, did your first symptoms look the same or different than mine?

Phrases that sound supportive but can come off ableist 💔

The entire purpose of this post is to educate!! As I’ve been navigating illness at a young age, it’s made me realize firsthand that even I was saying things to other people that came off ableist. I would say things with good intentions in an attempt to make the other person feel better, but it really just made them feel invalidated.

What other phrases would you add to my list?
