You don't collect watches for what they cost. You collect them for what they mean to you.

The HMT Trishul has a character that draws me towards vintage watches in the first place. There's something deeply personal about owning a piece of Indian watchmaking history, something that exists outside the constant cycle of trends, hype, and luxury branding.

For me, collecting isn't about owning the most expensive reference in the room. It's about finding pieces that speak to you, understanding their history, appreciating their design, and knowing exactly why they deserve a place in your collection.

The Trishul is one of those watches that makes me appreciate the quieter side of horology. No unnecessary extravagance. Just a distinctive vintage dial, an unmistakable identity, and the appeal that makes you look twice.

Perhaps that's what makes vintage watch collecting so interesting. The more you learn about watches, the less you need them to prove.

There’s something seriously underrated about a brown dial watch, especially when it gets the details right. This Timex dress watch is a perfect example of why you don’t always need an expensive luxury watch to have serious wrist presence. The deep chocolate brown dial, fine textured pattern, applied Roman numerals, baton indices, inner minute track and two-tone stainless steel bracelet give it a surprisingly rich character, while the polished case keeps the whole watch clean and elegant. What caught my eye is how the dial changes with the light. Sometimes it looks almost chocolate, sometimes warm bronze, and sometimes much darker and more vintage-inspired. That’s the kind of detail that makes a watch interesting to a watch collector. It has that classic vintage watch aesthetic without looking like a direct attempt at a vintage reissue, and the combination of brown, silver and gold makes it incredibly easy to wear with both formal and casual outfits. This is also why I enjoy exploring affordable watches and underrated watch brands instead of only chasing the obvious luxury names. A good wristwatch doesn’t have to shout Rolex, Omega or Cartier to make you stop and look at it. Sometimes a simple Timex watch, an unusual dial colour and a little bit of personality are enough. For me, collecting watches has never been only about price or status. It’s about the dial, the finishing, the history, the design and most importantly, that feeling when you look down at your wrist and still enjoy what you’re wearing months later. ⌚️🤎 So tell me honestly, brown dial or blue dial? Vintage-inspired dress watch or modern sports watch? And would you actually pick this over another mainstream watch at the same price? by @chrono.metric

I happened to have the 1980s on my wrist.

That unmistakable 80s attitude.
Deep blue, gold accents, chunky steel, a busy chronograph and absolutely no interest in being subtle.

It looks like the decade when watches were allowed to have a little fun.
A little loud. A little excessive. And somehow, completely right.

This isn’t an AI-generated idea of what the 80s looked like.
This is the real thing. An OG from the era.

And honestly, every time I look down at it, it feels less like wearing a watch and more like wearing a tiny piece of the decade.

The 80s called. I happened to answer. ⌚️

Some watches you search for.
And then there are watches that somehow find you.

This Shakti was one of those. I wasn't particularly looking for it, and then suddenly the opportunity was right there. I was lucky enough to grab it, and honestly, it has turned out to be one of the best HMT purchases I've ever made.

The price was good.
The condition was ridiculously good.
And the watch itself... it just gets tough to look somewhere else.

It has that old-school mid-century dress watch character I really like. The compact proportions, curved case and lugs, clean indices and restrained dial all come together without trying too hard. Even the simple hands feel exactly right here. There’s a quiet elegance to the whole thing, and I think that's probably why I keep coming back to it.
I love taking this watch out every now and then.

Because somehow, every time I wear it, it reminds me of something far more important than watches.

Sometimes life puts an opportunity in front of you when you have absolutely no plans for it.
No preparation.
No certainty.
Just a choice.
Almost as if it was waiting specifically for you.
And in those moments, even if you don't completely trust yourself, trust the plan.
Maybe that was the path Mahadev had already laid out for you. Maybe all that was left was for you to gather the courage to take the first step.
Because walking that path is what is actually in our hands.

Don't shy away from opportunities because you're afraid of failing.
Fail, maybe Mahadev wanted you to fail.
Win, maybe He was behind it all along.

Either way, trust Him.

Keep walking.

Baki sab toh Mahadev sambhal hi lenge.
Har Har Mahadev. 🕉️

84 watches made the cut.
6 came from India.
And today, we know the result.

None of the Indian entries were shortlisted. 🇮🇳
And yes, it hurts.

Especially when you have watched Indian watchmaking slowly, painfully, beautifully find its way onto a stage that has traditionally belonged to Switzerland, Germany, Japan and the established giants of horology.

For GPHG 2026, Indian brands stepped into that room with six entries:
🇮🇳 Titan The Wandering Meteor
🇮🇳 Titan EDGE UltraSlim Mechanical
🇮🇳 Bangalore Watch Company Peninsula Carbon
🇮🇳 Delhi Watch Company Terra
🇮🇳 Jaipur Watch Company Premium Baagh
🇮🇳 Jaipur Watch Company Maharana Pratap Stamp Watch Automatic

None made the final 84.

But here's the part I don't want us to miss.
A few years ago, we were asking whether Indian watchmaking could even be taken seriously on this stage.
Today, we're disappointed because we wanted one of ours to make the cut.

That is progress.

And for me, the most fascinating part of this story is Titan.
The Titan Stellar 3.0 Wandering Hours.
This was the moment Titan showed us that it wasn't afraid to experiment with something as unconventional as wandering hours.
An in-house wandering-hours movement.
A 120,000-year-old meteorite dial.
Crystallised titanium.
Grade 5 titanium.

A watch ambitious enough to stand before the world's most respected watchmaking jury.

It didn't make the final 84.
But it made it to Geneva.
And that matters.

Because Indian watchmaking doesn't need sympathy.
It needs time, ambition, experimentation and relentless improvement.
We don't need to pretend every Indian watch is extraordinary.

We should demand more.
We should criticise more.
We should celebrate the breakthroughs when they happen.
And we should keep showing up.
Because maybe the most important thing about GPHG 2026 isn't that India didn't make the shortlist.
Maybe it's that India entered the race.
And once you enter the race, the next question isn't “Can we?”
It's:
“When?” by @chrono.metric

@titanwatchesofficial is making waves.

Over the last couple of years, they've gone from making good watches to making watches that make collectors pause.

The Jade proved that stone dials weren't reserved for Swiss brands.
The Maritime collection celebrated India's naval heritage with thoughtful design instead of borrowed inspiration.
The Nebula line reminded everyone that Indian craftsmanship can be luxurious, with solid gold cases and intricate artistry.

And then came this.
The Titan Aventurine Moonphase.
The watch that completely stole my heart.
This was probably the first aventurine dial I had ever seen in person. Pictures don't prepare you for it. The moment light hits the dial, it feels less like paint and more like you're staring into a clear night sky. I was genuinely dumbstruck.

So, what exactly is an aventurine dial?
Aventurine is a man-made glass created by slowly cooling molten glass infused with tiny metallic crystals, usually copper. During cooling, those microscopic crystals form naturally within the glass, creating thousands of shimmering specks. The result is a dial that resembles a sky full of stars, with every angle catching light differently.

The applied indices float beautifully over that galaxy-like backdrop, staying crisp without stealing attention from the dial itself.

And then there's the oversized moonphase.
Not merely a complication, but the soul of the watch. Against the star-filled aventurine, the moon looks exactly where it belongs.

Even the bracelet deserves appreciation. It's bold, sculpted and refreshingly different from the usual three-link designs. It gives the watch a strong identity instead of being an afterthought.

Every element feels intentional.

Years from now, I genuinely believe this will be remembered as one of the Titan's landmark creations. The kind of watch collectors look back on and say, that was the moment something changed.

We often put foreign brands on a pedestal as though good watchmaking only comes from outside our borders.
Maybe it's time we changed that.

The H.M.T Kohinoor Maroon Dial is a true masterpiece of watchmaking. Its rich, vibrant maroon color is a standout feature that sets it apart from other timepieces. This unique hue is reminiscent of the deep reds found in the majestic sunsets of the Indian subcontinent, particularly in the sun-kissed landscapes of Rajasthan. The dial's intricate design and the watch's mechanical hand-winding movement make it a true work of art.

The maroon color of the dial is particularly unique because it is difficult to achieve. The exact shade of maroon used in the H.M.T Kohinoor is not easily replicable, making it a rare and valuable find. The color is a result of a precise combination of pigments and dyes that are carefully crafted to produce this distinctive hue. The difficulty in achieving this color is what makes it so valuable and sought after by collectors and connoisseurs.

The maroon color of the H.M.T Kohinoor Dial matches with several other elements, including:
-Rajasthani Sunsets: The vibrant maroon color is reminiscent of the breathtaking sunsets found in the sun-kissed landscapes of Rajasthan.
-Deep Red Berries: The rich, vibrant color is similar to the deep red hue of certain berries, such as pomegranate or cranberries.
-Luxurious Velvet: The soft, plush texture of luxurious velvet fabric is matched by the smooth, velvety finish of the maroon dial.
-Rich Wine: The deep red color of the dial is similar to the rich, full-bodied color of a fine wine, such as a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot.
-Indian Cultural Heritage: The maroon color is also reminiscent of the rich cultural heritage of India, particularly the vibrant colors and intricate designs found in traditional Indian textiles and architecture.

"It doesn’t need to be winter to wear a gray dialed watch........"

Grey dials, ranging from medium steel to deep charcoal, offer a unique depth and versatility. They add character to any outfit, with hints of blue, green or red lending them a dynamic appeal.
The H_M_T Pilot's grey dial isn't just any shade of grey; it's a unique hue that closely resembles the color of a comet's tail. This distinct comet color infuses the timepiece with a rare and captivating aesthetic, setting it apart from more conventional watch dials. The rarity of this special hue adds to the allure of the H_M_T Pilot watch, elevating its uniqueness and making it a standout choice for those who appreciate the extraordinary.

The texture of the dial tells a story of resilience, with subtle intricacies that invite admiration.

The prominent 12 marker serves as a focal point against the understated backdrop, while the vibrant red second hand adds contrast. Triangular-like hands echo the spirit of aviation, navigating the dial with precision.

Special rectangular indices at strategic positions offer both utility and visual intrigue, while lume dots ensure legibility in any setting. The stainless steel case back signifies durability and a commitment to quality, culminating in the H_M_T Pilot watch in grey as a symphony of form and function.
