World Menopause Day

For some women, symptoms that are assumed to be linked to menopause can sometimes be signs of something more serious.

At 44, Jenny experienced changes in her health that were initially thought to be related to perimenopause. It was later discovered she had experienced a stroke.

This World Menopause Day, we're highlighting the importance of listening to women, recognising symptoms early and supporting women to feel confident asking questions about their health.

Hormonal changes during menopause can increase the risk of developing cardiovascular conditions, making awareness and early conversations more important than ever.

A huge thank you to Debbie Matthew and the incredible team at Strathearn Pest Control for raising an amazing £1,535 for CHSS.

To mark 10 years since her stroke, Debbie set herself a personal challenge of completing 10 activities that pushed her outside her comfort zone.
For her latest challenge, Debbie and five of her colleagues came together to take on a bungee jump at Highland Fling, Killiecrankie, while another ten colleagues were there to cheer them on.

Debbie's challenge is a powerful reminder that while a stroke can change your life, it doesn't have to define it.

Every pound raised will help support people across Scotland living with chest, heart, stroke and Long Covid conditions, helping ensure that no life is half lived.

Thank you to Debbie, the team at Strathearn Pest Control, and everyone who donated and supported this fantastic fundraiser.❤️ taken in Scotland by @chsscotland

Imagine receiving life-changing health news but struggling to understand the information you're being given.

For many people living with aphasia after a stroke, this can be a reality.

During Health Literacy Month, we're highlighting the importance of making health information accessible to everyone📖

For people living with aphasia after a stroke, complex language and information-heavy resources can make recovery even more challenging.

That's why at Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, we keep updating our Aphasia-Friendly resources, using clear language, supportive images and accessible design to help people access the information they need.

Accessible resources can help reduce confusion, build confidence and support emotional wellbeing during recovery🩵

Health literacy starts with accessible information📑

Ready to take a breath?💨

For #MentalHealthDay, we wanted to spotlight, The Cheyne Gang and their inspiring Sing to Breathe groups, where music and community come together to help people with long-term respiratory conditions.

We are proud to collaborate with their groups, they provide support through the power of singing:
- gain confidence👏
- manage their breathing 💨
- find friendship🩵
- local community support🫂

It is a great way to combat isolation, find community and share your experience and thoughts with people that have lived through similar conditions.
