Around 8 in 10 people with heart failure are diagnosed after being admitted to hospital. Many of them had symptoms for months beforehand.
If you've been getting more breathless, your ankles are swelling, or you're tired all the time, please don't put it down to age or being unfit. This is especially true if you have AF, kidney disease, diabetes or high blood pressure.

It’s World Menopause Day, and this one is for the men.

Lots of women are talking to other women about menopause today. Brilliant, keep going. But hardly anyone is explaining to the men in our lives what it’s actually like.

Women: what’s the one thing you want the men in your life to know about menopause?

Men: what have you noticed that you weren’t sure you were allowed to mention?

A note on language: I say “women” because that’s who I mostly see as a GP, but menopause affects trans men, non-binary and intersex people too.

It’s about understanding what each client needs, adapting the support we provide and giving them the best possible opportunity to make progress.

9 months post stroke, I found myself back where it all started, in hospital. I’d been so excited about this milestone, celebrating how far I’d come and seeing my progress. This doesn’t undo that, I’ve done it before, I’ll do it again 💪🏽 A reality check for how vulnerable my damaged brain really is, my new normal.

I focus on highlights and triumphs but for stroke survivors, transparency is key in recovery so I want to show that regressions are a part of stroke recovery. You are still progressing, still achieving and you are still a day closer to your next goal. Keep going 💪🏽

Grateful to be back home with my family. Missing my ladies on the ward, my mischievous girl gang causing mayhem together. We cheered each other on with every wobbly step, we blew kisses every morning and laughed till we fell asleep. We shed tears as I left, I’ll forever be grateful I had them through my stay and blown away by the incredible multi-disciplinary team who cared for me at Western General Hospital. As promised, I’m visiting my ladies to keep them smiling & keep them naughty.

All saints dress bought for £20 from @chsscotland in Bruntsfield. It was the first charity shop near the bus stop and I consider it a lucky find! An IA search tells me this retailed at over £168. I wouldn’t be too impressed with paying that considering it’s polyester but £20 is a great deal. #charityshopfinds #allsaints #charityshopfashion #charityshopfashionista

So today I’m wearing…

A beret.
Last year, I developed a bit of a beret obsession and I’ve now got 7 in my collection. I love how they complete an outfit.
Now it’s autumn, it’s great to get my favourite accessory back in action!
I’m wearing it with a fluffy jacket (I love texture!), black wide leg jeans and some animal print in the scarf and trainers. Also my trusty bag from @mutha.hood which is the ideal size for a day out.
Off now to @rbgedinburgh to visit the reopened Palm House and of course have lunch later and some shopping.
