*INTRODUCING BIIRD 1 - CIARA* Ciara hails from Dublin and has been surrounded by Irish music and dance her whole life, starting fiddle at the age of 5 and dancing as soon as she could walk. Her dad’s family, originally from Co. Clare, were set dancers who moved to Dublin and set up clubs to revive the tradition there. Tied to the hip of her sister Éilis the two Murphy sisters attended every summer school and festival going and went on to win an All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil duet title together. Ciara’s professional career includes touring the world with shows such as Lord of the Dance, Celtic Thunder and Riverdance. She has always had a keen interest in sustainable fashion and began sewing when she turned 18. During lockdown she decided to start her own line of fashion called ‘Murcú’. (@__murcu__ ) “When the idea of Biird came to light, it filled me with such excitement. I’ve dreamed of playing in a band with my friends for years! I’m so delighted that it’s coming to fruition. I look forward to incorporating Murcú design into the project down the line too!” Ciara is wearing a up-cycled Arran jumper with airbrushed triskels by Rian Hannora. Her skirt is from Om Diva boutique - the home of emerging Irish design in Ireland. Om Diva is housed in the heart of Dublin’s Creative Quarter, brimful of colour and texture with one whole floor dedicated to over 40 emerging and established Irish based designers.
